I do not own life is strange or any of its characters, nor do I own Carmilla or any of its characters.
"Wait, so you're seriously not talking to her?" Danny asked, sipping her coffee as baby Y/N played with a set of plastic keys in her lap. You nodded with an annoyed sigh and picked at your croissant.
"She does this every time I mention the idea! And she wont tell me why!" You groaned, frustrated. Danny just shook her head. "Maybe she just doesn't want kids, Y/N."
"That's the thing, she does as far as I can tell. She just wont talk to me about the subject. It's not like she thinks she'll be a bad parent either, you've seen her with Tommy and Y/N, she loves these guys." You sighed, smiling slightly as baby Y/N reached across the table and grabbed your finger, trying to put it in her mouth.
"I just-.. I don't get it. Is it me? Maybe she does want kids, just not with me..." You trail off and Danny glares at you.
"Oh no you don't. Nope. Don't think like that. You and Chloe are going to be fine, you're going to work through this like adults, and everything is going to work out." She finished off her coffee just as baby Y/N started to fuss. "Speaking of kids, would you mind watching her for a second while I run inside to the ladies room?"
"No not at all. Hey there pumpkin, come here.." You said as Danny handed her to you before hurrying inside the coffee shoppe. You sat her in your lap facing you, and she giggled and reached up, grabbing at your hair. You winced as she yanked on it, and you had to gently pry it out of her little fingers. She pouted up at you and you had to smile back, kissing the top of her head.
"Such a cutie.." You chuckled to yourself as you bounced up and down in your lap, getting impatient. Just before she could lose it, Danny came back out from the store, and you handed her back to her mother. The baby cooed and grabbed her mothers nose, and you couldn't help the lonely ping you felt in your chest. Danny noticed the look that had come over your face, but before she could say anything you plastered your face in a big grin.
"Yikes, so she's pulling hair already, huh?" You chuckled, and Danny nodded, weariness fading as she buckled baby Y/N into her stroller. "Yep, she's been doing it a lot lately. She almost made Nate cry yesterday when she grabbed a fist full of his chest hair.." she suppressed a laugh and you struggled to do the same.
As the three of you walked down the sidewalk, you noticed you had passed your apartment. "Um Danny, my place is back there..?" You gestured behind you and Danny smirked.
"I know."
"So why are we walking away from it...?" You asked, furrowing your eyebrows. Danny rolled her eyes and stopped, turning to look at you. From in her stroller seat, baby Y/N babbled to herself a string of nonsense words.
"You'll just have to wait and see." She said, and you pursed your lips, but continued following her nonetheless. Finally, after a good ten minute walk, Danny stopped outside of a boutique.
"Danny..." You said in a cautious tone, turning to look at her. She just smiled and shook her head. "Before you say anything, its an early birthday present." You were about to protest when baby Y/N looked at you with those big eyes and said a very firm 'No', causing you both to pause. The two of you looked at each other before bursting into laughter.
"Well I guess that's that, then." said Danny, smiling and brushing the hair out of her daughter's eyes.
"I can't really argue now, can I?" You chuckled, and the three of you entered the boutique. Danny steered you imediately over to the front desk. "Excuse me, we're looking for a dress for her, something that screams 'girls night', please." She said and you looked at her as the woman behind the counter nodded.
"Girls night? What girls night?" You asked, and Danny grinned looking guilty. "I may or may not have gotten us a booking at that new club downtown, to celebrate your birthday.." She bit her lip and you laughed, shaking your head. "Danielle Prescott you didn't!"
"It'll be great, I promise! No kids running around, no significant others getting on our nerves-"
"Uh-huh, this is sounding like more of birthday retreat for you than for me." You chuckled and she playfully slapped your arm.
"Y/N come on, it'll be fun! It's your big 25!" She begged, and you sighed, answering her by following the sales clerk to a rack of party dresses. Why not? You thought, what could it hurt to do something nice this year?
