The ocean spray hit my face as I looked out over the horizon. It was THE day. The day a grand total of twenty children will be hauled off to their deaths. Today, I was eligible to compete because my aquakinesis has finally revealed itself. It was when I was deep in thought and drenched in the residue of the ocean spray that my older brother came over and sat down next to me.

My older brothers name is Triton Brine; he's sixteen years old. He has blonde hair and green/blue eyes just like me. He is also three years older than me, and about a head taller than me. "Don't worry, it will be fine," his voice strained. He knows it might not be fine. I'm at the top of my class in Element School, and they seem to be drawn to those who can use their abilities properly.

"I just HATE it!" I yelled to the ocean in anger. The tide got angrier with me, it rolled up the entire beach to the ledge we were sitting at. He brought me closer to him, I don't know why but whenever I'm stressed, angry or sad, whenever I'm near my brother, I'm instantly calmed. We kicked our legs up and down in unison just like when we were younger, enjoying the last minutes before school started.

...

My brother helped me adjust my full body swim suit. That was our school uniform; a pitch black full body bathing suit with the Water Sectors representing weapon, a golden trident, stitched on the back of the suit. The suit itself was skin tight, so it was hard to get in it. "It's time," Triton whispered into my ear. Everyone has to bring a backpack of belongings just in case your chosen. We say goodbye to the house, and head out the door.

...

When we got to school, the assembly room was almost full. My brother and I choose empty seats in the front row because nobody wants to sit there. "Welcome." A robotic voice stated into the microphone. "The Government has decided who will be going into the Element Games. Processing. Processing. Done."

On the gigantic electronic screen over the stage, five names where posted.

Stingray Thomas

Coral Reed

Rivers Brine

Triton Brine

Angler Evans

Rivers. Me? Me! Triton. No. A tear streaked down my face. as all five of us walked onto the stage. Three boys and two girls. Stingray, Triton and I, with Coral and Angler. Tritons hand grabbed mine, and gripped it tighter than ever. Just then, it started pouring outside.
