Hook held the necklace in his hands, the only thing that he still had in his hand. The crew went on their daily business, they knew better than to talk to the Captain when he was thinking about his wife. The man was angry, they knew that. Without Adelaide there to calm him down they knew better. Everything of hers he kept close to his heart: the telescope with their names on it, her necklace that he'd gotten to protect her and more importantly... his compass. She'd never known but Killian had a picture of her drawn up once and had his compass made to incorporate that picture. He'd had it made back when he was in the Navy, back when Adelaide hadn't been able to come with him every time he left the port. He'd had it the last time he'd visited Neverland, but that time he'd been able to go back home and to hold Adelaide in his arms – this time he had no wife waiting for him back at the docks. All he had was a telescope, a compass and a necklace. And that wasn't enough. He gently placed the necklace back into his pocket so he could stare at the picture in the compass, he could still remember every detail of her face. The fresh ivy glow of her skin, the raven black of her hair, the pale chocolate brown of her eyes. If he went back into her quatres it still smelt of the fresh lavender sent that followed her everywhere she went. It was these moments, where he could remember and feel her most.

"Adelaide was quite beautiful wasn't she?" Smee said, approaching the Captain. He was the only one who had the guts to do so, especially when the Captain was like this. He also knew by the glare Hook was giving him that he needed to not mention her beauty again as the Captain placed the compass away. "Don't worry Captain, you'll avenge her not matter what it takes. I know you'll find a way to kill Rumpelstiltskin."

"Mr Smee, what news of today's catch? The boy we yanked from the sea."

"He's still asleep," Smee reported, for some reason Hook recognised the boy from somewhere. He just couldn't place his hook on it. "A bit waterlogged and smells of catfish but he'll live,"

"Where do you suppose he came from? There aren't many other ships in this area and his clothes are certainly not of this land."

"What if the boy belongs to him?" Smee said, causing Hook to snap back to look at him. "The ones he'd kidnaps from other world, I'd bet my rations on it."

"Indeed, but could we so lucky?"

"Lucky? He'll be looking for us, he knows this land better than we do."

"Mr Smee, are you not a connoisseur of rare and valuable objects?" Killian pointed out getting a plan to get back into his good side, "If we return the boy to him, it could be the very key to our survival in Neverland."

Mr Smee took Hook down to where the boy was staying. He opened the door for his Captain. Killian saw the boy, and once again felt the notion that they had met once before.

"Ahoy there, aren't you lucky to be alive."

"Lucky?" The boy asked, knowing fully well that he wasn't lucky at all. "I'm a prisoner of pirates in a land cursed with magic."

"Well most children think they've found paradise when they lay their eyes on Neverland's magic, why else leave home in the first place?"

"I came here so a family I loved could live,"

"Well aren't you quite the hero?"

"What would you know about that?" The boy asked, doubting the man had ever done anything in his life that wasn't for himself. "Pirate,"

"There was once a woman who considered me quite the hero, and besides I also saved your scrawny bones from the curse of the mermaids."

"A pirate killed my mother and tore apart my family,"
