TIP #15: When people start to lose it, leave them alone so they have time to calm down.

Kylie

June 16th, 2017

I just stand there on the top of the bus staring at Jocelyn as she sobs after attacking dead bodies with a knife. I just stand there and let her have time to herself. She's muttering under her breath, probably talking to herself. I am honestly surprised I haven't had a meltdown yet. Yeah after a few drinks, I cried into Jack's chest, telling him everything I regretted in this thing we all happen to call life- no reality. People have lives, but some of those people living those lives need to learn how to face reality. Call me crazy, but its well reality.

I look out into the trees. Squirrels are running up and down trees. Birds are still tweeting their little songs. Mushrooms are growing. When terror and chaos is going on amongst humans, nature is just chilling out. "I wish I was a bird so I can fly away from this mess."

Jack gives me a funny look, "Why do you want to leave?"

Tears blur my vision, "No reason at all, Jack! There's just zombies eating people, people killing other people, and what used to be people are laying on the ground! Dead! Wouldn't you want to leave too?"

Tyler turns around, "I'll leave you two alone. C'mon Nathan, you can go come help me...help me clean the bus."

Nathan shrugs then jumps down into the cab of the bus. Tyler follows behind him. Jack and I turn to face each other. He sees the tears clouding my vision. His big brown eyes look into mine. "I'd want to fly away, but I'd stay because I can't back out." His index finger brushes my cheek, "Please don't cry."

I push his hand away. "Don't tell me what I can and can't do."

His mouth opens. He quickly snaps it shut. Another tear falls from my face. My heart wants to let him back in and hug me. My brain just knows to wait. "Kylie, I can't stop doing that. I love you and want to go out of my way to protect you. And before you tell me to stop loving you, I can't! Because my love for you is too strong."

I smile, closing my eyes for a split second. "I love you too and don't think I can stop loving you either."

Jack wraps his arms around me. I suck the snot back into my nose and hug him back. His warmth makes me feel safe. It reminds me of home and it feels good. "Jack."

"Kylie?"

We break the hug, standing close together. "When I told you everything I regretted, I didn't finish."

"What?" His eyebrows furrow

"I regret not meeting you sooner." I place my hands on his cheeks and place my lips on his.

Jack's hands wrap around my waist, edging me closer. His lips taste like cherry cola. I savor them even more. My hands move around his face then finally rest around his neck. Jack breaks the kiss. He is panting. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, fine." He pants harder

"Then why are you panting?"

"Because I don't want to go too far."

I nod, "Good choice."

I turn to go back into the bus. Nathan, Tyler, and Mikal are peering out of the open roof exit. I point my finger at them, "Why are you watching us?"

Mikal is the first to speak, "I just wanted to see my maid kiss someone that was way out of his league,"

"I should've made popcorn, too bad microwaves don't work anymore." Nathan chuckles
