"Wait-so he just sent you out?" Shyla asked a sobbing Seisha as they sat on pillows and sipped coffee.
"Yes!" cried Seisha. "And then he came to the market and tried to apologize for all that he'd done. So pathetic, he only wants me back!"
Shyla sighed, even though she was secretly glad that Tarrlok had broken up with Seisha. She didn't want him anywhere near her sister. Especially when he killed their father. Shyla finally piped up and said, "But why would you be sobbing about a guy who killed Kyo?"
"What?" Seisha's eyes were red and filled with tears, but Shyla could tell she was confused.
"Golly. Shyla, what do you mean, 'killed Kyo'?" Seisha asked.
How can she not know? thought Shyla. She took a deep breath and said, "Seisha. Tarrlok is the one who murdered Kyo. Not Mom."
Seisha's eyes grew wide. "You mean it was Tarrlok?!"
"I just said that."
Seisha sniffled and said, "But how? I can't imagine how that could have happened."
"Amon told me everything. Tarrlok snuck into the hospital where Kyo was dying and put snake venom in place of Kyo's medicine!"
"No," Seisha gasped. "NOO!"
Shyla nodded firmly and gravely. "Yes. He's evil, Seisha. I don't understand why you were ever with him."
"Because I didn't KNOW!" Seisha yelled, standing up quickly.
"Maybe you would have if you'd been in the room with Amon and I and not been wandering around the house like a lost puppy!" Shyla retorted, standing up as well. "And did you know that Maru was dating me while you were dating him?!"
"That's why I dumped Maru!" said Seisha. "Because he told me he was cheating on me!"
"But did he tell you he was cheating on you with me?!" Shyla demanded.
"Well...yes," was Seisha's traitorous, heart-breaking answer.
Shyla felt her face grow cold. "You knew?"
Seisha gave a sad little nod.
"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?" screamed Shyla. "You could've at least been a good sister and TOLD me about this! What has gotten into you these days? You're kissing Tarrlok, you're keeping very important secrets from me, and you're CLUELESS about what happened to Kyo!"
Seisha burst into heavy sobs, crying heavier than she had before.
Shyla just rolled her cold, gray eyes and grabbed her sister's coffee. With an angry burst of energy, she threw the burning cup of coffee over Seisha's head.
Seisha screeched and plunked to the floor, screaming. "My head BURNS!"
"Well, you should've thought of that before you decided to love TARRLOK!" Shyla quickly moved toward the door and threw it open. She hadn't invited Seisha in in the first place, so she could kick her out. Heck, she could kick her out anyway.
As she motioned for her soaked, sobbing sister to leave, Seisha collected herself, pulled herself up off the floor, and stomped towards the doorway. "I hope you're happy," she grumped. "I'm out of your life forever."
Shyla slammed the door behind her. Then she let out a loud, long scream.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
After that, Shyla went to the bathroom. She sat on the toilet pot and wailed and shook. She could barely process it all. Her father was dead, her boyfriend had cheated on her with her sister, her sister had never told her, then kissed Tarrlok, and on top of that, her own mother was trying to kill her!
Shyla grabbed the razor Kyo used to shave with, and in a swift movement, she ground it into her cheek. The blood flowed quickly and easily, and Shyla took a towel and dabbed at the wound. It temporarily distracted her from all that was going on around her, but not by much.

In the morning, she woke up on the toilet. As she got up and walked to the bathroom door, she felt weak, like she could go on no longer. She opened the door and found a letter on the floor. Not feeling ready to read it yet, she slipped it in her pocket. When she'd had a good walk, she would read the letter.
The walk didn't go as planned. Instead of a nice, calm walk, people kept getting in her face and asking, "Shyla, what happened to your cheek?" and "Oh my word, Shy, are you okay?" and on and on and on.
Shyla just responded with, "I'm fine," every time someone got in her face. She continued walking and finally reached the empty road that no one ever walked on. It was the road to Capital City.
She had not intended to arrive there. All she had wanted to do was go on a nice, long walk away from everyone. But she'd gotten too far and accidentally wound up in a dangerous place.
Shyla started to turn back, but she then remembered that Tarrlok-who seemed to still love Seisha-wouldn't hurt her for fear of angering Seisha further. Yes, Seisha was mad at her. But she apparently was not on speaking terms with Tarrlok, so she probably hadn't told him she was mad at Shyla. He couldn't hurt her. He wouldn't. Why would he even think of it with Seisha around?
Shyla turned back around. Boldly, she began to walk down the road to Capital City. She no longer felt depressed. She felt confident, happy almost. She was leaving her vicious mother behind.
Shyla kept walking until she got to the welcome sign.
Welcome to CAPITAL CITY! it read. With a deep breath, she passed the sign and entered into Capital City-Tarrlok's territory. It wouldn't be long before she passed the Air Temple and shouted at Tarrlok, "Ha ha, you can't hurt me now that you love my sister! You're stuck with me! In your face, prick!"
She reached the busy street, where people were walking and buying things and milling around. But she noticed that none of them were smiling or laughing-probably because of Tarrlok. He did go out of his way to make their lives miserable, after all.
But maybe if he listened to her, he would change the city, maybe even be a kind person.
Shyla passed through the streets, anxious to get to the Air Temple. She ignored the talk of "Who's the new girl?" and "What happened to her face?" and continued on her way.
Finally, Tarrlok's Air Temple came into view. With a deep breath, Shyla walked to the door and knocked. Hoping Tarrlok wouldn't reject her as soon as he saw her, she felt nervous. But when he appeared the door, his eyes bulged wide, and he swung open the door. Seizing Shyla by the back of her neck, he growled, "You evil little witch! You've caused Seisha great pain!"
Shyla screamed and Tarrlok yelled, "I heard about what you did to that poor girl!"
Surprised, Shyla managed to choke out a "How?"
"Your mother Lin told me! Seisha told her what a horrible sister you are!"
And then next thing Shyla knew, she was being bloodbent.
