Kissing Tarrlok was the best feeling ever, especially when it was a victory kiss.
They murdered Shyla! They murdered her! Just like they had murdered Kyo.
Lin wrapped her arms around Tarrlok's neck and kissed him. "I love you," she whispered.
"I love you, too," he whispered back. Then he kissed her back and they stood there like that, hugging and kissing, sharing the victory of young Shyla's death.

When Lin woke up the next morning, she wondered where she was. She could not get her mind straight; she didn't know if she was still in Republic City or not. Had she gotten drunk?
It wasn't until she heard a man next to her that she realized where she was.
"Tarrlok?" she called gently.
He moaned again, and Lin sat up. He was laying next to her on the giant king-sized bed where Lin remembered falling asleep.
"Tarrlok."
"You're awake already?" Tarrlok asked softly, opening his eyes. He stroked her cheek.
Lin grabbed his wrist and held his hand to her cheek. "Did you want to dispose of the carcass?"
Tarrlok's eyes opened wider now, and he sat up. "Yes," he said. "We better get going on that before someone does something with it."
Lin nodded in agreement, and they got up. Lin started toward the bedroom door, but Tarrlok put his hand on her shoulder and stopped her. "Don't to that way," he said.
"Why not?" Lin was confused. "Isn't that the right way to go?"
Tarrlok smiled. "Wouldn't you rather go a more fun way?"
Seconds later, Lin was sitting in Tarrlok's lap, and they were sliding down Tarrlok's heat tube. Even though the heat was turned off, it was still pretty stuffy in there. Lin could hardly breathe, but she didn't care. If she died of suffocation, at least she would die in Tarrlok's arms. But she lived through it, and as they neared the end of the tunnel, Tarrlok and Lin went sliding even faster than before.
"Yuck!" exclaimed Tarrlok.
"What's wrong?" asked Lin.
"My butt slid over something wet," Tarrlok explained. "And I think it was a splat of blood."
Lin grew hopeful. Had Shyla bled? Had they really done that to her?
"And if there's one, there's probably more," Tarrlok assured her. "Shyla had a rough time."
"But wait-how do you know for sure it's Shyla's blood?" Lin asked. "Haven't you ever blasted someone else in here before?"
"Well, I actually don't know for sure who's blood it is," said Tarrlok admittingly. "And yes, I've heat-blasted a lot of people in here before. Some of them couldn't get out."
Suddenly, Lin got a sickening feeling in her stomach. "Tarrlok...do you ever clean out this heating tube?" she asked nervously. They slid over more blood and Tarrlok said in a low voice, "No."
"Oh my word, Tarrlok-"
But Lin was cut off because the next thing she knew, she and Tarrlok were flying out of the tunnel with lightning speed.
"WHHOOOOOOAAAAA!" Lin screeched, never having expected this.
Suddenly, she landed splat in a pool of blood. "EEEEWWW!"
Lin looked down. She was now covered in blood, and Tarrlok's arms were no longer around her.
"Tarrlok?" she called. No sign of him.
Lin looked around, still sitting in Shyla's blood, when Amon stormed up to her. "Only you would bathe in your daughter's blood!" he hollered. "You do know she's not even dead, right?"
Lin was shocked. "Not dead?"
Was Amon messing with her?
Amon shook his head. "Not dead." He glowered at her. "How dare you bathe in her blood, thinking she was dead."
"I wasn't bathing in her blood, you useless fiend," said Lin, slowly standing up. "If you say that again, I will personally rip your head off of your body."
Amon staggered backwards, obviously afraid of Lin.
Lin rolled her eyes and grabbed Amon by the collar of his shirt. "IF. YOU. EVER. MESS. WITH. ME. AGAIN, I. WILL. KILL. YOU."
She dropped him and bent down. Leaning in really close to his face, she growled. "Where is Shyla?"
"She went into the Water Tower, I think," said Amon, his voice sounding like he'd been choked.
Lin stomped off, leaving the little twit on the ground. She was going to find Shyla and kill her.
And she was going to celebrate with Tarrlok. All of a sudden, she had a thought. She turned around. "Amon!"
Amon sat up. "Yes, Chief Lin?"
Lin hollered, "Come here!"
Amon did as he was told, and Lin gripped his arm tightly. "Help me find Shyla."
"Lin!"
"Help me," Lin growled. She dragged him with her, into the dark forest which led to the Water Tower.
Amon said, "Why are you making me do this, Lin? It's my best friend that you're trying to kill! Why would you make me search for her?"
Lin said, "Because if you don't help me, I'll kill you."
Amon did a little gasp, and then was silent. Lin dragged him and dragged him until they reached the Water Tower.
Lin instructed Amon to follow her, and she led him inside.
They walked up the stairs and Amon asked Lin, "W-what are you g-gonna do to Shyla when y-you find her?"
"I shall drown her," said Lin casually. "I'm quite sure she doesn't want to be alive anyway, with all the problems she's faced recently."
Amon sniffed, and Lin rolled her eyes. This boy was such a wimp.
When they finally reached the water room, Lin spotted her. She gripped Amon's arm and hissed through gritted teeth, "You see Shyla?"
A teary-eyed Amon nodded.
"You're going to sneak up behind her," Lin explained. "Don't let her know you're there."
Amon looked shocked, but he did what Lin told him.
Lin followed him, and soon they were both standing behind Shyla, who had no clue they were there.
Lin smiled. The good thing was that Shyla was standing right by the pit of water, so all she had to do was get Amon to push her in. The water was sixteen miles deep, she'd surely die!
"PUSH HER!" Lin screamed at Amon. "GRAB HOLD OF THAT CHILD!"
Amon grabbed her, but didn't shove her. Shyla screamed.
"PUSH SHYLA IN!" Lin commanded. But Amon just stood there, frozen.
