Laika McNamara was a pretty normal person. Sure, she was the right-hand man of Patricia Noble, the head of the Jiwe News Broadcasting Station, but she had the same, boring, everyday life everyone else had.
Today was a pretty good day, in her own personal opinion. She was going to be 15 minutes early to work, and nothing had gotten in her way so far. The barista at the coffee shop even spelled her name right, which was a first.
She looked up to see the skyscraper that was Jiwe News' headquarters and smiled. The sunrise was beautiful, it reflected pinks and oranges on the clouds. The Jiwe skyscraper still had that darned Christmas tree on the roof, even though it was the middle of March, but that didn't bother her too much.
She checked her files that she had under her arm again, double-checking that she had everything. She looked back up at the building when she had confirmed that all her papers were with her. Everything was going great, right up until the explosion.
