Is was lunch and I start to make my through the hall as I try to place my textbook into my bag,"Halle" Julie's voice came from down the hallway, she was walking towards me so I decide to stop and wait up for her "hey" I greet her "where you going?" she asks "I was going to the cafeteria to get food" I say with chuckle at her obvious question "can I join you?" she asks as she slicks her blonde hair back "yes of course" I tell her. We then continue to make our way down the hallway and cheerleaders including Lyla Garrity started to prance down the hall towards us when they passed us, some girls let out an unnecessary "woo", obnoxious. I look over at Julie and she was rolling her eyes at them too, "you know I could go through my day without having to hear that" Julie says making me laugh "doesn't it get boring? All the 'Go Panthers Go' bullshit" I say mimicking them "girls in Dillon live for that kind of thing and it's just sad" she adds and I continue laughing. We continue to make our way through the hallway until I see Matt at his locker looking over at us, I know all he wants to do is talk to Julie but I know he wont. We pass by him without him saying a word, I look back and smile and he just shakes his head.

We walk into the cafeteria, I pick out a small caesar salad and so does Julie and we both make our way to an empty table. "So I heard your Dad is the new head coach" I say "yeah it's a big deal" she says sarcastically not looking amused at all "you really don't like football do you?" I ask "It's not that I don't I just have zero interest and it gets annoying when your Dad's the new head coach and you go school with all the turds that he coaches" she says making me laugh "so you don't like football" I tell her "yeah now that I heard myself say it out loud I really don't" she says joining me laughing. "Did you hear?" she says and this gets my attention "hear what?" "Jason Street proposed to Lyla" she says and my jaw drops "no way" "yeah, she's been flashing that big ass ring all over school all day" she says. I can't believe I didn't notice and that Jason actually proposed, Jason's just turned nineteen and Lyla is only seventeen and a senior in high school. "Oh my god when did it happen?" I ask her eagerly "I heard it happened this weekend but I don't know" she says. Before I know it Josh takes a seat next to me and slings his arm around my shoulder, "hey" he says taking a piece of lettuce from my salad "hi" I turn to face him and give him a peck on the lips. "This is Julie Taylor, Julie this is my boyfriend Josh Riley" I say introducing them to each other "oh right the coach's daughter" Josh says referring to Julie "the one and only" she says "what's with you today, babe? Did you start becoming a football freak like everyone in this town this weekend?" Josh says to me and this confuses me. "What?" I say with a scoff "well first talking to Saracen and Matthews in the hallway today," he says referring to Matt and Garrett "and now the Coach's daughter" he says referring to Julie and I nudge him "Josh, first of all I already told you Matt and Garrett are my friends and second so is Julie but just because she's the Coach's daughter it doesn't mean she likes Texas football either" I tell him and he puts his head in defeat chuckling. "Sorry Julie, I just see you as a football kind of girl especially being the Coach's daughter" he apologizes to her "no don't worry about it, people think that all the time" she says "why is it that you don't like football? I know all the reasons why this one doesn't like it" he says teasing me "well I mean I don't have anything against the actual sport but just how much everyone in this state loves it so much really gets to my nerves" Julie explains and I agree with every word she says. Josh looks up and sees that one of his friends was waving him over, "ok I'll see you after school?" Josh asks "no I gotta pick up Bo right after school" I tell him as I still grab ahold of his hand "ok then I'll see you tomorrow ok?" he says with a smile and I just give him a nod, he bends down and places a kiss on my head "it was nice to meet you Julie Taylor" he says then runs over to his friends shortly.

"He's nice" Julie says and I smile at her comment "yeah" I say. "Halle" Garrett says from behind me, oh god, if he's with Matt there might be a possibility that I might loose Julie as a friend today. I turn around and sigh in relief to see that he was alone "oh god I thought you were with Matt" I tell him and he laughs, he notices Julie sitting across from me and he sticks his hand out to introduce himself to her. "Hey, Garrett Matthews" he says "I'm Julie Taylor" she says "I know, you're the Coach's daughter" Garrett says and Julie looks over at me and I mentally smack myself on the face, why would he say that? "What do you need Garrett?" I ask him to get to the point of his purpose of being here but instead he sits next to me and folds his hands on the table, "I wanted to talk to my good friend Halle and her new found friend Julie Taylor" he says and I roll my eyes. "Anyway, Halle I wanted to ask who Bo was" Julie asks "he's my six year old brother" I answer "oh Bo? Cutest kid I love him" Garrett adds "yeah I think he's been spending way too much time over at your place because he started freaking out when we passed Tim Riggins' house today" I tell him and Garrett furrows his eyebrows "how's that my fault?" "because apparently you've been making him watch all your game tapes when he's over at your house" I tell him and he laughs "the kid loves it, Hal, you can't stop the love for the sport" he says and I roll my eyes. "There's one thing to be a football fan and it's something else when he's a Tim Riggins fan, you should've seen how excited he was to see his house this morning" I explain to Garrett "seriously? Riggins isn't even that good, if anything he should be my biggest fan" he says bragging "well obviously he just doesn't think you're that good" I tease and he scoffs "low blow" he says. "I think I gotta go Halle I'll see you later?" Julie says and I nod "wait" Garrett says stopping her from getting up from the table "I need to ask you something" Garrett says, no. "What is it?" Julie asks "yeah what is it Garrett" I say glaring at him "what do you think about Matt Saracen?" he says straight up and I face palm my face "who?" she asks and this makes Garrett chuckle "Matthew Saracen? He's the new QB1 he's sitting over there actually" he says then points behind us at Matt sitting alone at a table near the rest of the football team. Oh god, why do they have to do this? I can see that Julie's uncomfortable with the situation that Garrett has put her in, "what do you want me to say? I don't know him" she says "like do you find him attractive at all?" Garrett adds "ok Gar I think that's enough" I say cutting him off and I start to push him off the table but he holds his ground and doesn't get up "um I think I'm gonna go now" Julie says uncomfortably and starts to gather her things and gets up and leaves.

Once Julie is gone Garrett bursts out laughing putting his head on the table, Matt rushes over to our table and sits in Julie's spot. "I hate you guys" I say and Garrett just continues to laugh and Matt rolls his eyes, "no I'm so serious right now, I'm actually trying to make new friends and you guys are not helping" I add "how are we not helping?" Garrett says "did you see how uncomfortable she was?" I tell him waving my arm while saying it "you need to help me get a date with her, Hal" Matt begs grabbing my arm "Matt, she would've said yes if she wanted to" I tell him and he doesn't respond and all he does is grasp my hand a little harder. He continues to stare and I feel my body relax as I sigh giving in to his begging, "fine I'll see what I can do" I say "are you kidding me?" Garrett says throwing his arms in the air and Matt does the same thing except for joy "but you owe me" I add following that I get up from my seat and walk away from Garrett and Matt.
