this is a long chapter so thats why it took so long! i'll try to put out chapter 6 today as well!
"Bo!" I say calling for my little brother, he waves at me and he starts to approach me with another boy. "Hey buddy, ready to go?" I ask him "can we wait for Adam's brother to come pick him up first? He'll be here soon" he asks pointing at his friend who I'm guessing is Adam, "ok we can wait" I say. Moments shortly Adam points behind me "oh my brother's here" Adam chirps, I turn around to see who he was pointing at and it was a guy with dark brown hair wearing the Dillon Panthers golf t-shirt that the rest of the football team all wore, he went to Dillon, actually I'm pretty sure he's in my chemistry class, I didn't know his name but I do know his face. Adam waves goodbye to Bo and runs off towards his brother.
Bo hops into the back seat of the car and I follow him as I take the driver's seat, I pull out of the school parking lot and start to drive away from the school. It's quiet in the car and I look back through the rearview mirror and I see Bo just looking out of the window the same way as he did this morning. "Is Adam a new friend Bo?" I ask him breaking the silence "yeah" he says excitingly "that's exciting" I say and it's quiet once again.
We get to the house and I see that the front door is wide open, "Halle, the front door is open" Bo chirps "I see that" I tell him. We both step out of the car and slowly make our way towards the house, I look inside and I hear and see nothing, "Mom?" no answer. I grab Bo's hand we both make our way through the house slowly not bothering to take off our shoes just incase if we needed to run for our life. Everything seemed like they were in the right place in all the rooms, all of a sudden the back door slams opens and this scares both me and Bo, "hey kids!" Mom says excitingly "Mom, you scared us, why did you leave the front door open?" I ask her "oh did I, silly me" she says as she starts to stumble towards the door. Is she drunk? How mature, "Bo can you go to your room for a bit?" I ask him and he nods and runs to his room shortly.
Mom continues to stumble through the house until she finally reaches the front door and closes it, when she finishes closing the front door she slumps down and sits on the floor. I walk into the kitchen and grab a glass of water and walk back to where she was sat "thank you, Halle" she slurs after taking the glass of water from my hands "don't worry about it" I tell her and I turn away and start to walk away "Hal?" she says stopping me "mmm" I respond "how are you so patient with me?" she asks "uh" I stutter "thank you Halle, I really am" she adds, I walk towards her and I grab her arm to help her up "let's get you to your room, Mom, you need rest" I tell her as I pick he up from the floor and walk her towards her room. I place her on her bed and I take the glass of water from her hands, I place a blanket over her and she dozes off shortly, I use that as a ticket to leave her room. I walk out and place the glass in the kitchen sink. I walk into my room where it was in the same state as how I left it this morning, I realize that I still have my shoes on so I take them off and lay down in my bed. I sigh in relief and listen to the silence in the house. I enjoyed it when the house was quiet, there's always yelling and just a lot of stuff going on daily so when there's it's absolutely silent I tend to enjoy it.
As my eyes start to get heavy I hear my door creak open, I look up and it's Bo, I almost forgot that he was here. "Hey" I say to him "can you help me pick out an artifact for show and tell, Halle?" he asks as he's standing on the edge of my bed. "Bo can we do this another time? I'm tired right now" I tell him and he doesn't respond "you can stay in my room and watch cartoons ok? I'll help you with any homework later, I just need to take a nap" "ok" he says. I close my eyes but before I got to doze off I hear feet pad across my room until a sound of cartoons turns on.
