Ashley came out of the shop and the both of us just ran and ran and ran until we got back to her place and we didn't stop until we got inside her house and locked the door.

I put the vodka on the counter and went back over to Ashley, staring at her "Did you kill him?"

She slowly pulled the t-shirt off, revealing tear-stained cheeks and tears in her eyes. She nodded "I didn't mean to Matty, I...I..." she collapsed in my arms and just sobbed.

"Please don't hate me" she said into my shoulder. I used my hand to pull her head up so she looked in my eyes "I could never hate you babe" I whispered "We all make mistakes"

She continued to sob into my chest. I sat on the ground, pulling her down with me and I fell asleep listening to her cry.

I woke up the next morning, as the sun rose and spilled through the window in the kitchen. Ashley was still in my arms. Tears still clung to her cheeks.

The realisation of what she did dawned on me and I feared for what was to become of her. Of me. Of us. I wiped away her tears with my thumb and pulled her closer to my chest.

Her eyes fluttered open and she gave a little yawn "Hi" she whispered

"Hey babe"

I kissed her forehead and went to get up but she pulled me down "Stay with me"

"I have to make you breakfast"

"I'm not hungry"

"If you never eat you'll never grow"

"I'm not hungry" she was firm with me so I let it go and let her sink back into my arms again.

She sniffled "I'm so sorry. I'm going to jail and you're gonna be on your own. And..." she was starting to cry again "And I love you Matty. I only know you a few days but I love you and your arms around me and your hugs and your laugh and your smile and your hair and the smell of weed off you and your kisses on my neck, my chest, my thighs and I don't know how I'll live without you"

"I'll wait for you" I told her

"What?" She asked, stunned.

"I'll wait forever. If you're caught, I'll wait right here until you come out. I'll keep the bed warm and the lights on and the curtains open and the door closed until you come home. I'll pay the bills and clean the house and visit you every fucking day. Because I love you too Ashley I fucking love you so fucking much"

She sobbed even harder into my chest and tightened her arms around me.

We both whispered the same thing at the same time "I'll never let you go"
