Eighteen

I groaned and rolled over picking my phone up off the dresser. I looked at the clock seeing it was eleven and groaned sliding the bar over to answer the call.

"Hello?"

"Eric! Toni's in the hospital!" Danielle shouted making me sit up instantly from the bed.

"The hospital?! Why?! What happened!?" I shouted jumping out the bed.

"There were these girls, and they said something to her, and I jumped in and started fighting one of them and she tried to break it up and I guess the other girl pushed her and she fell and hit her head." She sobbed into the phone.

"Fuck man. What hospital?" I sighed running my hand down my face.

"Saint Mary's." She cried.

"I'm on my way." I hung up throwing the phone on the bed and grabbing my jeans and putting them back on. I grabbed my phone and my keys and ran out the room and down the stairs out her front door.

When I got inside my truck I didn't even think about putting my seatbelt on I just pulled out her driveway and sped down the street to the hospital. It didn't take me long but when I got inside I instantly ran to the receptionist desk.

"Uh, my girlfriend was brought in? Toni Anderson?" I said to her frantically.

"She's in surgery right now-"

"Surgery?! For what?!" I shouted.

"Sir, please calm down. She's in surgery right now and should be out in a few hours. You're welcome to go up to the waiting room if you'd like." I nodded and she smiled sympathetically and grabbed a visitors pass for me and handed it to me.

"Go straight through those doors and take the elevator up to the third floor." I nodded and told her thank you and made my way through the double doors.

When I walked into the waiting room Danielle shot up from her seat and raced over to me.

"Eric I'm so sorry." She cried falling into me. "It's all my fault." She sobbed.

I wrapped my arms around her head and let her cry. I just hoped and prayed that my babies would be alright.

"Dee tell me what happened." I said pulling her away from me.

She wiped her eyes and took a deep breath.

"We were in line and there were these two girls laughing and giggling at her. When Toni finally placed her order for her ice cream they said something about you downgrading from her to Toni." I scrunched my face up instantly. "Toni asked them if there was a problem and they told her no, then I walked up and I asked if there was a problem and the one girl Jenny said that they were just having a friendly conversation and Toni was like bitch I don't even know you and she said yo nigga know me and she said something else and I dropped that ice cream and slammed my fist into her face. The next thing I know is that we're fighting and Toni's trying to break it up and the friend I guess grabs her or pushes her and she fell backwards and hit her head on the floor."

When she said Jenny, I instantly smacked my hands over my face. Jenny was my ex from like six years ago and the bitch had a serious mental problem. Like some loose ass screws. I put a restraining order on her ass a few months ago, but I didn't expect her to come after my girl.
