3. My Dad

I closed the door behind me, just as I got crushed in a hug.

"How was your summer?" Lauren asked as she squeezed me tighter.

"Ah-can't-breathe-" I gasped.

"Oh sorry." She apologized letting go.

"It was decent I guess, how was yours." I asked

"I went over to Tennessee for a couple of weeks, but the heat was seriously killing me." She replied. I chuckled. Lauren grabbed me by the hoodie and ran behind a bookshelf.

"What the hell-" I started.

"Shhh." Lauren said putting a finger to her lips and clamping my mouth shut with her hand. "Steve Bann just came in." Steve Bann, Lauren's crush and popular soccer player of the Luna Wolves.

"Just go talk to him already." I rolled my eyes.

"Hey Steve! The man, the myth, the legend! Can you come over here real quick?" I exclaimed.

"Sofia!" Lauren screamed in my ear. I tied one of her hands to a bookshelf so she wouldn't runaway like she always does when Steve is around.

"What's up?" Steve greeted.

"The ceiling." I joked. He laughed.

"So can I ask you a question?" I asked pulling him a couple of bookshelves over so Lauren wouldn't hear.

"Sure anything." He replied.

"What do you think of my friend Lauren?" I asked.

"She's beautiful, but I don't she likes me, she's always running away from me." Steve said.

"Well guess what? She likes you, a lot, so do her a favor and ask her out." I said shoving him into Lauren. "Now I'll give you guys some privacy." And so I went back to looking for a book to read. About 10 minutes later Lauren had me in another bone crushing hug.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" She squealed.

"No problem. Nothing's a problem for Ms. Love." I smirked. Lauren rolled her hazel brown eyes.

"Sofia Flores. May Sofia Flores report to the front office." Said a voice from above. I raised an eyebrow, what did I do now. I waved goodbye to Lauren and walked towards the front office.

"Sofia Flores?" One of the receptionist asked.

"Uh yeah." I replied.

"Your dad is waiting outside, you're dismissed early." Said the receptionist. I nodded and headed out towards my dad's car.

"Hey dad where are we going?" I asked entering the car.

"Far away from your mom." He answered. I knew my mom and dad are always fighting because of what my dad did, but what happened now?

"We finally got a divorce." My dad gulped. Then I realized his eyes were bloodshot.

"Your mother got custody of you and your little brother Philip," He continued, "But I only had to time to come pick you up." I noticed the beer cans littered around the car.

"Dad...are you drunk?" I asked.

"Y-yes." He gulped speeding throughout streets. I took Barry-my teddy bear- out of my backpack and squeezed him for comfort.

"Please...slow down." I whispered as my dad's speed increased. But then my dad took a wrong turn, landing us in a small forest. And my dad was driving straight at the tree in front of us.

"Watch out for the tre-" I started, but then everything started going in slow motion. Tears ran down the face of my father as he hit the tree. Then...everything went black...
