Fox
Cloud had been placed on a table in my house. I had my overalls on because my lab coat was a disheveled mess from exploring that cave. I was working on another project when I heard a knock at the door. "It's open!" I called.
"Hello? I was told an engineer lives here."
"Yeah, I'm back here!"
A head poked through the cracked metal door. It was the King of the Shadows himself, Cerberus. I turned back to my work. "Why a metal door?" He asked.
"I set the wooden one on fire." I said without a beat of hesitation. I work on machinery; fire happens.
"Oh. May I please see your face, sir?"
"Sure, but you won't like it." I turned to face him. His brown eyes stared at me. And kept staring. "Uh... Your Highness?" I asked, feeling uncomfortable.
"Oh, my apologies. You see, I find it quite easy to get lost in your eyes."
I immediately stammered. "M-My eyes, s-sir?"
"Oh yes, your eyes. They're like emeralds. Ah, you probably have never seen emeralds."
"A-Actually, yes I have! There's a bunch of emeralds mentioned in my history books! A red guy protects one in order to keep his island afloat in the air, but then there's this white jewel thief who's had her eyes on it for quite a while! And then a bad guy showed up and Red had to destroy the emerald to keep him from stealing it! In the last issue, however, I learned that emeralds can also contain whole beings within them! Like HUGE water monsters and... I was rambling again, wasn't I?"
"Perhaps? I really don't know, I got lost in your eyes again. What's your name, good sir?"
"I'm Fox. Ah, shoot." I said as I knocked a screwdriver off the table. I climbed under the table to grab it.
"Fox, eh? Fitting name."
"I'm a redhead, I'm clever. I've heard it all before, Your Highness."
"Actually, I think it's because you're so...foxy?" I felt a hand on my rump. I straightened and banged my head on the table in my surprise. "Goodness! Sorry, that wasn't a good time, huh?"
I looked at him. "T-There is n-no good t-time for that!"
"Oh, I beg to differ." I saw him grab the tool out of the corner of my eye.
"Give that back!" He held it just out of reach. "Hey!" He suddenly jumped behind me. I whirled around and immediately felt him press me against the wall. His knee was right up at my hips, keeping he from escaping to my right, his arm blocked my left. I was completely trapped!
"Do you have any idea how handsome you are?" I just noticed how everyone's taller than me. And stop blushing!! He ran the screwdriver under my jawline. I whimpered. "Especially when you struggle like that." My blush was reaching maximum obviousness. Does he know?
"Cerberus! P-Please! Stop!" Stop stuttering, I sound pathetic! Like he'll actually listen to...
His eyes widened. "Oh!" He stepped back, allowing me to breathe. "My sincerest apologies! I didn't mean to hurt you! Goodness, it's a good thing you said something. God, I get so carried away. I'm so sorry." He actually stopped? "If I had carried out what I had initially wanted to..." He trailed off, leaving the consequences to the imagination.
"Y-You really w-would've...?" I asked.
"Uh... Let's do something we both can enjoy, right, Foxy?" He asked, pulling my chair out from under my desk. "Have a seat." I warily complied. I didn't actually want to, but that little episode had drained me of energy somehow. He gave me back the screwdriver and I continued my work. "You understandably look tense. And tired." He said.
"I only got one hour of sleep last night, so... That doesn't really help."
"You poor thing! Were you in here all night?"
"I'm used to it."
"How? I can barely function on seven hours! Oh, you look so spent. But then again, being shoved into a wall doesn't help. Again, words cannot express how sorry I am."
This is getting weird. Does he feel bad? I think he actually feels bad. "It's okay, just... Don't do it again."
"I'll work on controlling those little impulses when you're around."
"So what did you want?" I asked after a while. "You know, besides me."
"I... Heh. I was actually hoping you could help me build a more permanent residence."
"May wanna hire Dragonfly, too. He does really well with architecture and stuff. With help from a few others, he built Lilith's, Mephiles's, and his own house. He's got a knack for it. I just get lost in the details, but I'd be happy to help you out."
"Thank you, friend."
I worked in silence until I felt a pair of hands grab my shoulders. I gasped and tried to fight it until I realized that he was actually massaging me! Why?! "What are you doing?!"
"Sorry, you just looked so tense and upset." I won't lie, it felt amazing. I had been hunched over my work all afternoon. I moaned and laid my right cheek on the desk. After a while, I felt something draped across my shoulders.
"Wha...?"
"It's just a blanket I found in that red box on the wall." The fire blanket. I muttered a thanks and started to drift off. "Good night, Foxy." He said, placing a small kiss on my left cheek.
When I finally woke up, Oak had found Dragonfly severely injured near the swamp by my house. Just another day in the life.
I swear to God that's not why I named him Fox. Yeah, I'm not sure if you guys ship it or not? Either way, Cerberus has a really sweet side I couldn't convey very well here. Sorry about that. And speaking of sorry, I kinda skipped 3 whole weeks! I was on vacation and couldn't find any decent wifi to save my life. So yeah. Realllly Sorry about that. Also, at the end of the summer, I'll start posting Kaze stuff again, I think. This won't stop, I've just been getting a lot of feedback along the lines of "Where tf is Kaze 3??!!!?!??" So yeah. Wait no further!
