Kanae

chapter one: the week of cries

            I wake up to a loud scream, I sit up in my bed and rub my eyes, I look to my door only to hear the scream again, I fly up onto my feet, slam my door open and run out, brother Hiroshi just made it into kitchen.

Hiroshi "what happened!"

Mother "Mo-mou-mouse!"

Kanae "oh god mother, please don't scare us like this"

I chuckled, while grabbing the mouse by its tale and taking it to the front door to throw it out.

Hiroshi "where's father?"

I looked to mother who was just stepping down from the table.

Mother "he's left for work already; a bunch of his colleagues came for him early today something about a monster kidnaping children while they slept."

Kanae "sounds like nothing new is going on... Hiroshi since you're 18 and now able to use magic outside of school"

I was quickly interrupted by brother.

Hiroshi "no I'm not teaching you anything yet, you're going to have to learn to control your powers first."

Kanae "Come on that's not fair..."

Once again I was interrupted but not by my family but by a knock at the door. Which always meant that something bad had just happened or is about to happen, sense no one ever bothers us. A lot of people say that being so close to the wall brings bad luck, others think that well... it was senseless to live so close to the other half of the world knowing there is no possible way to escape the hell we live in. Once again the person knocked but harder mother quickly turned on her heels with a smile, she walked quite fast, and the house had become quite I could hear mother start to breathe heavily and the sound of her feet hitting the floor sent chills running down my spine. Time seemed to slow down to an unbearable speed. Another hard knock landed on the door, mother picking up speed almost at a run now was acting like she couldn't move fast enough. When she finally made it to the door she turned the lock and the door flying out from mother's hands, sending her backward. I take off at full speed and jump into the air my quickly balled up my hand. And finally landed on the guy making him fall to the ground with a loud thump that made Hiroshi jump. Hiroshi saw who it was and started running toward me, pulling me off of the guy he yelled.

Hiroshi "Kanae what were you thinking don't you know who this is, Ren I'm so sorry about my little sister please forgive her she has forgotten her manners. Please come in I'll show you to my room and we can discuss things in there."

Brother helped the guy up, while giving me a strong, serious look almost telling me to go play with one of my friends. But I don't have any friends, I never have.

Mother "are you staying out there or coming back inside Kanae?"

I walked in not saying anything and started to walk to my room. I stopped when I heard yelling from big brother's room, I walking up to the door I placed my ear to it.

Ren "we need your little sister! You know what we do with power like hers. She can either be the destroyer of our world or the saver. So why not train her so she can use her power to its full extent! Trust me about this, she could do amazing things! All we have to do is keep her away from the guys that could use her powers for... well you know. We need her, and the capital would train her. But they don't even know about her! Come on Hiroshi we need to take her to them"

He pleaded. Sounding sad and almost scared. I couldn't see their face but I bet brother hated talking about this. He always did. That's why he gave up trying to find someone to train me.
