"So do you like it?" I asked Autumn, who was sipping her tea slowly. She licked her lips and widened her eyes. "I'll take that as a yes." I laugh. Who didn't like Dans special brew; it was the best fucking thing ever. I'm suprised it isn't worldwide.
Taking her to this tea shop wasn't the best way to gain her trust, obviously, but I hoped it would. She wasn't close to trusting me at the begining of the day we were nowhere, but she escaped with me. That has to show something. I got up, and walked inside the little homey shop, leaving her to drink her tea while staring at the still lake.
"So that's Autumn?" Dan asked, as I sat down next to him. I nod slowly. "Are you sure she's the right Autumn though, I mean-" "How many fucking Autumn's are there in school that have fucking brorange hair?" I spat. Dan looks at me with a horrified expression on his face. "Brorange? Seriously? What the fuck is that?" I scoff and hit the back of his head, "Brown and orange, dipshit." "Oh, sorry, smart ass. I didn't realise that I was supposed to know every non existent word that are made by morphing two words." I look at him quizzicaly,"What?"
He laughed and shook his head, which caused a ripple on his glorius head of hair. "Do you ever think that somewhere out there, there is a girl with cancer who has no hair, and here you are with your blessed locks. And you're a boy." "Yeah, I think about that all the time because I have nothing else to think about, Diamond. Yep, thats what I do with my life." I swat his arm and hit his head. "Enough with the sarcasm. oh my god. How do I stand you, I don't even know."
Just then, Autumn walks through the door, holding her cup. "Wow, I'm so jealous of your relationship." She smiled. Dan smiled at her then at me. He stood up and took her cup to the kitchen, which left her and I alone. "How did you know my name?" She asked suddenly, sitting on the chair beside me. I took this time to examine her. It wasn't the best time, but it was a good enough time. She didn't have any pimples at all, and no scars were present either. I was jealous of her clear milky skin, that made her dark green eyes big, and beautiful.
"Why wouldn't I know?" I challenged, and raised my eyebrows. "I'm a nobody. Nobody knows who I am, let alone my name. So how do you?" That was a pretty legitamate answer, and now I'm stuck. "I, um, you... you dropped your book yesterday, and your name was on it?" I hoped it sounded more like a statement than a question. She wrinkled her eyebrows and nodded slowly. "Okay..." She said unsurely. Before she could say anything else, Dan came through the kitchen doors holding two plates of cake.
Winking at Autumn he gave her a plate of what looked like chocolate fudge with whipped cream. He gave me the same thing, minus the cream. I glared at him and he shrugged, "You seemed to have put on some weight there, chubby cheeks." Autumn giggled and took a big bite of her cake.
"I may or may not have put poison in yours, Diamond." He smirked and I took a bite, glaring at him. It's obviously not poisoned, and only a straight up dumb bitch would believe that. "Fat chance. Am I dead yet? I don't think so."
After we ate our delicious cake, no suprises there, we go to the park that is coincidentally near Autumn's house. "This used to be my favorite place in the world." She said, swinging on the swing ( a.n. lol). "Used to?" I ask her. "Yep." Was all she said before she closed her eyes and swung in peace. I decided not to ask why.
"Where's your favorite place ever?" She asked, her eyes still closed. I hummed in thought. I don't know where my favorite place is. "Probably my room." I laugh and she smiles tightly, obviously not pleased.
"Not the beach or your grandmothers place?"
"Nope, she's dead, never been to the beach."
"Oh, sorry." She muttered than turned her head to face me, "Wait, you've never been to the beach?"
"That's the sad, sad truth." I say dramatically. We don't say anything for a while, and there's a comfortable silence. I look down at my boots, which are scuffed and worn out. Two raindrops fall on the boot and I sigh. It's raining. I look up at the gloomy sky; cursing the rain gods for bringing back unfavorable memories.
"Oh, rats." Gemini mumbles, getting of the swing and sitting next to me. The side of my mouth twitches up and she looks at me. "What?" She exclaims as I start laughing. "Rats? Really?" I double up in laughter while she groans over the noise. "Well, sor-ry. Don't expect me to swear like I'm Scotish."
I shake my head slight, at the innocence of Autumn. Another silence takes place, until Autumn pirks up, "How 'bout we play 20 Q?" Won't that be letting out too much? Probs not. I breath in a sharp intake of air and reply. "Okay." I agree, as Autumn grins widely. Fingers crossed, this doesn't ruin my life.
