autumn

After Gemini left, I decided to hit the hay and go back home. There was a dim light in my parents' room as I looked at my house from outside. I didn't want to go back home. no. So I went to the park again.

It was isolated, as always. I threw my school bag on top a horse on the miniature merry-go-round and I ran to the swings.

swish

I love the feeling of the wind blowing on my face, my hair flying behind me. It was as if all of my problems drifted away with the harsh yet gentle blow of the wind. I closed my eyes and crossed my legs, swinging away in silence.

"Excuse me?" a voice spoke from beside me. My eyes shot open and I saw a boy leaning against a nearby tree. I couldnt see him clearly, I was swinging too quick. I skillfully press my feet into the ground and stop it from rocking back and forth.

"You didn't have to stop." His brown eyes glimmer under the moonlight.

"Who are you?" I question, my voice hard and loud. What the fuck, Autumn? my subconscious asks. I cower again when he chuckles loudly.

"You can call me Hunter."

"Are you Hunter?"

"No."

"Then why call you that?"

"Because I told you so," he flicks away a strand of hair, "And 'cos I like it."

"Whats your real name?"

"I can't tell you.Whats yours?"

"Vester."

"It's not your real name, right." He laughs, coming a little closer. He sits on the free swing beside mine and grins at me.

"Nope, its not. I'm not telling you mine until you tell me yours." My voice echoes. I look up at the sky; its dark now, well it was for a long time now, and the moon came out. Silhouettes of bats fill the sky and I smile. Night was always my favourite time in a day.

"Its a deal then." He whispers, looking at me. He holds out his hand and takes mine into his, shaking firmly. His hand is warm and slightly rough and I feel a cut on his palm.

"Deal." I pull my hand away and stand up. I feel slightly uncomfortable with him here, but I cant really tell him to leave; thats rude.

I climb up the oak tree that is behind me, carefully stepping on the runaway branches. I can do it really quickly now, due to years of practise. I came here whenever I could, like Autumn and her meadow, to the abandoned park that no mother allows her child to go to.

"Thats rude, what you did there." Hunter suprises me, climbing up behind me. He gently slaps my butt when I stop and he giggles.

"Fuck you, man." I snap, sitting on the highest branch that was closest to me. I loved sitting here, you could see everything. I bet if I looked hard enough, I could see the meadow.

"I'm waiting for that." He looks into my eyes seriously. My eyes widen and for a moment I thought he actually was serious; before he cracks a smile and laughs at how I looked afraid for a minute.

I scoff and push him, making him lose balance, but sadly not resulting in him falling down. Instead, he held on to my hand and I curled my legs on the branch to keep myself from falling.

Hunter scoffed as he regains his balance. "Well, I promise to never make fun of you again." I squint at him. Surprisingly, he puts his hand on mine and I dont pull away.

Wow, this seems so stereotypical: a girl and boy meet and the boy charms the girl. But he didnt charm me... yet. He sure is trying though.

I look at my phone, I have a message.

From: Mum

where the hell are you autumn? its 11

"Oh fuck." I mutter and push him away, which was very difficult.

I jump off and run to get my bag. "Gotta go, bye!"

"Will I see you again?" He yells and I scoff, but it turns into a wheeze because I was running at full speed. It was quite obvious I'll see him again.
