"I cannot believe you're thinking about giving Damon another chance!" Caroline exclaimed in disgust, "He was going to kill Jeremy AGAIN because you dumped him, he killed Aaron, remember sweet innocent Aaron who happened to be left orphaned with no family at all because of who? Oh that's right DAMON!"
Elena flinched as Caroline's voice grew louder, she knew her and Damon's relationship was toxic but she found herself still wanting to be with him despite it all. Carding her fingers through her long dark chestnut hair, "Caroline," she sighed, "I thought you would understand, yeah I mean I've always known you weren't Damon's fan...but you slept with Klaus and some how me still wanting Damon is worse? Hello Caroline, Klaus killed Jenna, Mrs. Lockwood, he tried to kill you and Jeremy. If you're going to judge anyone maybe you should start with yourself."
Caroline felt as though Elena had just slapped in the face, "Sleeping with Klaus once is not the same as being in a relationship as him. Hello Elena," she mimicked Elena's tone, "Damon killed Jeremy because you rejected him, he abused me Elena. Do you not remember the bite marks covering my body or the way he treated me? And don't you dare say I was okay with that, he compelled me to be okay with it against my will! He killed Lexi, the only true friend Stefan had, he killed Mason the only link to Tyler's werewolf side. The list goes on Elena, I'm not saying Damon is worse than Klaus but don't for a second think that Damon is better." Caroline struggled to keep her voice steady as her emotions began to boil, "Damon used the sire bond to get him to love you, not only that Elena but when Stefan was in ripper mode it was because he was doing it to save Damon and keep you safe and how does Damon repay him? By sliding in and taking advantage of you while you were vulnerable."
Elena stood up grabbing her jacket not wanting to be lectured any further. Caroline continued to go on, "He slept with you right after you and Stefan broke up Elena! Stefan stopped Katherine when she kissed him because 'you' broke up with Damon weeks before, weeks. Klaus may be a monster but he has never taken advantage of me." Caroline said tears welling up in her eyes as her anger became to much to bare. She had spent weeks being looked down upon because of her one time indiscretion with Klaus, Caroline was tired of feeling guilty when some how it was okay for Elena to be with Damon who had done more bad than good.
"I can't believe you Caroline," Elena said with a scoff, "You slept with the man that ruined my life, ruined Tyler's life, he turned Stefan into the one thing he feared most but it's okay because he isn't Damon? Why can't you just be supportive of me for once?" Elena was already half way out the door before Caroline had a chance to respond. Which was for the best, the things Caroline had left to say would have strained their friendship further or worse ended it
Caroline wanted to scream, her anger and frustrations boiling within her. Elena changed after she turned, Stefan always said turning only enhances you really are but Elena has never had that chance to be who she really is. She was sired, Caroline knew Elena, the real Elena and the only reason she would continue to be with Damon is because she feels like she deserves to be in that toxic relationship. Caroline loved Elena but she didn't want her any where near Stefan, he deserved so much better than both Damon and Elena.
"Okay, just breathe..." Caroline mumbled to herself taking slow deep breaths, "Breathe." Allowing her eyes to fall shut as she slowly calmed herself. "Okay..all better." But it wasn't better, the moment she opened her eyes every emotion came rushing back. Why was it okay to see the good in Damon but not Klaus? Why is it okay for Elena to be with the 'bad boy' and not Caroline? Why couldn't Caroline get Klaus out of her mind? Without thinking Caroline grabbed her phone, scrolling down to Stefan's name but when it past Klaus's she hesitated. Just one push of a button and she could hear his voice again and some how that would make everything okay, instead she continued to scroll and called Stefan. "I seriously need a drink, Bonnie is off doing god knows what with Jeremy and Elena and I aren't on speaking terms. I'll explain it when you get here." Caroline ended the calling feeling only slightly better, at this point she wasn't sure if she was mad at Elena for being with Damon or mad at herself for not being with Klaus because of what her friends think.
