I walked down the stairs into the courtyard happy. Edmund and I were going to spend the day in the enormous library the Telmarines had built. It was full of so many Narnian books and neither of us can resist a good read. Back in our time, the library was our safe place.
My smile, however, faltered after seeing Susan and Peter talking with my father. I had a bad feeling about this. "Morning Love" A voice whispered into my ear. I shivered, his words tingling my senses. A pair of arms wrapped themselves around my waist, I felt a muscular body behind me. I turned to face him, keeping his hands where they were. "Morning Ed." I went to peck his cheek, but he moved so it ended up being on the lips. I glared at him and he just smirked back. "Why did you look so concerned before?" He asked. I pointed to the conversation I watched. I saw his face harden. "That can't be good." I nodded "My exact thoughts."

We all stood in front of a large tree, King Caspian, myself and the Pevensies on a raised platform. Aslan had just announced that anyone wishing for a fresh start in the world of England can. Miraz's widow and a soldier had already gone. But the others were not so inclined.
"How do we know you aren't leading us to our deaths!" One yelled. Reepicheep stepped forward. "If it is of any assistance, I will send twelve mice through with no hesitation." He said to my father. I giggled, how noble of him. "We'll go." Peter said loudly. My heart stopped. No, please no. "We will?" Edmund questioned, he grasped onto my hand. "Yeah, after all, we aren't really needed here anymore." Peter looked to Caspian and gave him his sword.
"I will look after it until your return." Caspian said. But Peter just shook his head. "That's just it. We aren't coming back." Susan said. She and Caspian shared a look. "We aren't?" Lucy asked. I looked at Edmund and saw the fear in his eyes. "You two are, well at least I think he means you two." Peter said calmly. "Did they do something wrong?" Lucy said innocently. "Quite the opposite dear one. They have learned all that they can from this world. It is the time they return to their own." Aslan replied. I grimaced.
The Pevensies, in turn, hugged Caspian. Susan was last and as she was about to walk off, she turned back and kissed Caspian. I smiled, finally! "I'm sure I will understand when I'm older." Lucy said. I chuckled. "I'm older and I don't want to understand..." Edmund started, I shot him a look. "...the fact that they are never going to see each other again." I smiled at his save.
"Alex, you are going to stay aren't you?" He said quietly. I nodded.
"I love you so much, Ed. But I need to stay. This is my home and I was just crowned Queen. Besides, this isn't forever. You will come back." I tried to say, resisting the urge to start crying.
"I will always come back to you." I ran up to him and hugged him tightly. Finally letting the tears flow. He kissed my head, before lifting up my chin. He kissed my lips softly. I smiled at him.
"I love you." he said simply.
"I love you too. More than you could imagine. Please never forget me" He chuckled,
"Never." I turned to Peter and gave him a big hug.
"Look after him for me." I laughed. He nodded. "I'll miss my friend and advisor." I smiled at him. "And I shall miss my big brother." I turned and hugged Susan and she too started crying. "Don't let any girl near Caspian just yet." She said. I nodded, pulling away. "I shall miss you so much, Su." I replied. "Me too Lex."
Lucy looked at me sadly and I gave her a big hug. "See you soon?" I asked. She nodded. I stood back, looking at Edmund one last time before he and the others lined up and walked towards the portal. He looked back at me and smiled. I returned it, wiping my eyes and waving goodbye. But soon they were gone. Evaporating into thin air. I turned back to Caspian and we looked back to the people. It was going to be hard, without them. But we would make do - after all, they will come back. They always do.
