The guards walk me through the halls each hand a firm grip on a arm. As we walked I wondered if I when with the light angels, would it all be easier? Better maybe? I missed living in the sky but my life there ended on a really bad note. That's another reason I'm not involved in the war. They kick me to the curb then go oops we need you so can you come back as a 'criminal'. I think you can understand my point. If I can just go back to my apartment and live a uneventful, mundane life I'll be fine. If only life were that easy.Walking through the halls I take note of how quite things are. In the times I have been here it was always happy and lively. I guess that's what war does people especially in neutral areas. Regions can chose whether or not they want to be involved base on a vote. If a neutral region is attacked that has not formily entering the war or intervened in anyway the it becomes a forced region. That area is allowed to enter the fight and is a sin against the attackers granting them special rights. As the moment I believe they have one of the best established neutral regions and a save haven treaty in order, but nowere as nere as safe as the mundane world.
I am pulled from my thoughts when a huge wooden door opens to reveal Alexander, the president of the region and the only person with more power than Eric, sitting at a table in the middle of the room clearly expecting me. He waves his hand and the guards uncuff me and leave the room closing the door behind them. "Please sit down." Alexander motions tword a empty chair directly across from him. Not in the mood to argue I take a set. "It seems D'Artangan has taken a liking towards you. So much so he got you here right on time." Alexander beamed.
"So are you the reason he pushed me out of a building?" I inquired.
"D'Artangan pushed you out of my building? Huh, you must of really ticked him off." He said amused. I roll my eyes and give him a 'why am I here look'. "Ah yes. Anyway I'm hoping you will tell me why everyone wants you."
"And why would I do that. Last time I checked I was try to stay away from the war." Alexander let out a dry laugh at my comment.
"As is my region. You know we are neutral and if you tell us we what we need I can give you a place were you can live safety among your fellow angels."
"You really think I'm that stupid. I know you better then that. Once you have the information you will enter the war." I stated simply.
"Depends on the information." He said like he was make the deal of a life time.
"Trust me you would. Unfortunately we both know I'm not going to tell you, so let me go home." I begged.
"I can do that. Only the elders can let you reture home." Alexander said referring to heaven and catching my slip up. Color drained from my face in embrassment."However." He continued. "I can let you return back to your mundane life however."
"Thank you." I told him avoiding his eyes. How could I be so stupid to say home to him. He knows more than he should but not what he needs to.
"Lyra. I do have one thing I would like to ask you about before you leave." He said gaining my attention. He should know I never do favors. "Word gets around and I've heard many stories but I'm still curious, what did you do to fall?"
Of course. Typical Alexander always wanting to know everything. I'm about to voice my disgust then I look into his eyes and can't. He deserves some form of the truth. "Its more complicated than one thing. It was a lot of different things and different truths." I admitted
"Interesting. You know, you are the last person I would have to fall. Heck I would have even bet on it." He replies in his overly confident voice.
"Your lucky you didn't. It never safe to bet on the outcast." I say nonchalantly.
