"Come on, Arch," I yelled out the sliding glass door.

He tilted his head to one side, before he trotted back towards the house. That dog always knew how to make me smile- as if I needed a reason to be happy today. The grin on my face grew, as Archie barked at the motionless ball that laid on the ground. I walked over to him, picking up the ball in the process and threw it towards the living room. I watched as he sprinted towards the ball, his tongue flapping out the sides of his mouth, as if it were his most prized possession. With him distracted, I slipped away to my bedroom. When it came to meeting Spencer for lunch, nervous was an understatement. What if, after I explained everything, she hated me? What if I hated me? I attempted to shake those thoughts from my head; I had to focus on the positive. Sighing, I scratched my head while I looked for cloths to wear to lunch. As I reached into my closet, my phone buzzed in my pocket.

"Fanculo, I forgot about that

"Fanculo, I forgot about that..."

*flashback*

"Carisma at 12:30," I beamed at her, "I'll see you there."

She nodded, before she turned and walked down the hallway. I pumped my fist in the air before jogging back to my office. Excitement filled me as I stared at the flashing green light on the telephone.

"Dr. Stefano speaking," I chimed as I sat in my big black chair and pressed the button.

Soft weeping came through the line, "Dr. Stefano-," She took a deep, shaky breath.

"Sophia? What's wrong," my joy was soon replaced with concern.

"It's.... It's Chris," she managed to get out while choking down tears.

I immediately stood, attempting to keep my voice calm, "what happened to Chris, Sophia?"

Ms. Taylor took a few moments to steady herself, "I- I dropped him off at daycare on my way to work, like I do every morning, but I got a call from the owner of the daycare after lunch saying that he...."

"He what, Sophia?"

"He's in the hospital with a broken leg and fractured arm; he's having surgery later tonight," she began sniffling once again.

I was in shock, "are you with him? How- how did this happen?"

"They said the older boys were all playing and when Chris tried to play with them, they... they," Sophia broke out sobbing.

A mixture of rage and empathy covered my face, "Sophia, listen to me. He's going to be alright; this wasn't your fault, nor was it Chris's. If you would like to take this to the authorities, I can recommend a lawyer. If you don't, that's fine too."

Her voice sounded shattered with a speck of hope, "would you be able to come visit tomorrow morning? I know it would help Chris and I."

"Yes, absolutely. I'll stop by around 11:45."
