Pain flared up my side and down from my shoulder, like a spreading forest fire. I couldn’t help but yelp as I leant against my left side, quickly rolling to remove the weight.
Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!
I bit my teeth together as I winced at the pain, before reverting to breathing heavily; the fall had winded me and I felt like I couldn’t breathe.
Choked gasps started spluttering from my mouth as I tried to sit up, attempting to cradle my left arm with my right. Every movement of my lower body caused pain to erupt near my ankle, though, and I couldn’t force myself to move.
“Andy!” I yelled out, tears escaping my eyes without permission as I tried to prop my back against the bottom stairs. “Andy” I stuttered out, though it was useless; there was no way he’d hear me over their music.
I attempted to shout for the others as well as Andy, but within a minute or so, it became apparent they weren’t going to hear me; all I could do was sit and wait for a lull inbetween songs. Unfortunately, the song they’d only just started the song, so I knew I had to wait a couple more agonizing minutes for the end.
Time passes excruciatingly slowly, and the sharp, stabbing pain in my arm and leg was far from subsiding. Once the song had finished, I urgently started shouting through the tears, hoping they’d hear me before breaking into another song.
“Andy!” I yelled as loud as I could, feeling a tear drip off my chin as I tilted my head back a bit. “Andy!”
Pure relief flooded through me as I heard faint voices and then the banging of footsteps coming down the upper stair case. I tried to shift, biting down on my lip and looking up at the top of the stairs I could hear the guys approaching.
Into my view came a confused and concerned looking Andy, who’s eyes widened as he saw me laying at the bottom of the stairs in tears.
“Lukass! What happened!?” He called, moving swiftly down the stairs with the guys in tow.
He crouched in front of me, cupping my face with his hand and looking at me with eyes that were clouded with concern.
“I .. I .. I fell and it h-hurts” I hiccupped, pressing my face into his palm and scrunching my eyes shut.
“What hurts?” Jake asked, crouching next to Andy and keeping his voice calm.
“My ankle and my arm, fuck, my arm kills” I choked out, almost shrieking when Jake tried to pull my arm up to see it better.
This had Andy giving him an immediate death glare before he started whispering ‘it’ll be okay’ and similar words of comfort to me.
“I think he needs to go to hospital” CC murmured with upset in his voice.
“Definitely; I’m taking him” Andy responded immediately, getting the guys to back up a little. “Do you think you can stand up, sweetie?” He gently asked me, taking my right hand in his and rubbing small circles on it with his thumb.
“No” I whimpered, squeezing his hand tightly.
“Okay, I’m gonna pick you up, okay? I’ll make sure not to touch your arm” he whispered softly, sliding his arms under my body and gently lifting me up.
Despite his care, pain still shot up my leg and I whimpered, earning a concerned look from CC (he was the only boy I could see apart from Andy).
“There’s not enough room for us to all go, um, I’ll keep you guys updated, okay?” Andy rushed out, manuevering us around in the hallway and heading towards the front door.
“I’ll drive you” Jake volunteered, the jingle of metal signalling to me he’d picked up car keys.
“Good luck, guys; hope you’re okay, Lukass” Ashley called softly as we hurried out the door.
Guess it’s time for an A&E visit then…
