"So exciting.. aren't you excited?"

My mother and I are currently on our way to my baby's ultrasound. To be honest, I'm not really excited and it's not because I don't love my baby. God, knows I do. It's just cause the father of my baby isn't here to experience and find out the gender of our creation.

This is something he was looking forward to more than I did. He's so convinced it's a boy and I'm convinced it's a girl. I guess in a little bit, we're going to find out who won.

"Yeah", I blankly respond.

"So do you want to know the gender right now?", doctor Tully asks as she squeezes down the small probe in circular motion from left to right on my abdomen.

I stay quiet thinking hard on what is best for Jason. If he was here, I wouldn't have a problem on finding out right here and now, but that's not the case. After a few minutes of lingering, I finally know what I want.

"Aleysa", my mom murmurs.

"I don't want to know right now... please put the ultrasound image revealing my baby's gender in an envelope please", I firmly demand.

"Are you sure?", my mom frowns.

"Yes, I am positive", I smile.

My mother nods, ultimately understanding my decision. I am 100% confident this is what's best for Jason and I. If he can't be right here by my side during our baby's gender reveal then best believe I'm going to bring it to him.

That way the both of us could find out together just like it was suppose to be.

Once I receive my white envelope with the big surprise inside it. My mother and I make our way to the house, so I can take a quick shower and get ready to visit Jason.

"Aleysa!"

"Yes mom?", I shout putting my makeup on for the day.

"I'm going to go pick up your father from work... I'll be right back"

"Okay mom bye", I step out of my room to say bye to her

"Okay mom bye", I step out of my room to say bye to her. A smile appearing on my face feeling the sudden happiness I got from my doctor appointment earlier.

10 minutes later

I'm seated on the couch of the living room waiting for my mother and father to come back, so we can go visit Jason. As I wait, I have the white envelope in my hands staring at it with such excitement.
