It seemed like the second I fell asleep someone was shaking me awake. When I pried my eyes open to see who it was, I saw Des standing over me with his hands on his hips.
"Get up sleeping beauty, time for school."Des said chuckling at his own joke.
"Ha, ha,"I said sarcastically.
Des rolled his eyes and me and climbed back down my ladder into the living room. I heard the TV turn on and someone walk into the kitchen. Sighing, I rolled on my back and stared at my pyramid ceiling for a while before actually rolling out of bed and changing out of my pajamas. Slowly, I slid down the ladder and made my way to the shower opposite of the kitchen. After a quick shower, I got dressed in just plain old jeans and a t-shirt. In the kitchen, Des and Monty were sitting at the table eating cereal while watching the smaller TV hanging from the wall next to the sink.
"...sunny all week!"the weather lady chirped cheerily.
I poured myself some cereal and sat down to watch them. When Jeb came stumbling down the hallway and into the kitchen, me and Des stood to go to school. Des is a senior and I'm a sophomore. We are the only ones that go to High School. Only Monty, Jeb, and Boyd are going to college. Boyd didn't want to go to college, but Jeb made him go because he said that we weren't going to be able to slay dragons forever which was true. As much as we liked being Savers, we couldn't do it forever.
"Come on, let's go."Jeb said grabbing the keys from the key dish below the microwave.
We only had one car. A gray hatchback Mazda 5. It seats five so it works and it's not too big. The school is about twenty minutes away so Des usually falls asleep on the ride there because he stays up too late. As we approached the school, I groaned and woke Des up.
"Boyd is picking you guys up,"Jeb said just before me and Boyd slammed the door.
"What?"me and Des said at the same time.
"You heard me,"Jeb said as he pulled away from the school.
Me and Des watched him go and groaned at the same time again.
"God, I'm really not in the mood to see him womanizing today,"Des said annoyed.
"And you think I am? Last time I caught him making out with a girl in a bathroom stall,"I grumbled walking up towards school.
Des followed behind me, we made out way into the school and through the crowds of people. Usually, I go to the library and do my homework that I didn't do at home. I'm not that popular or anything, I only have a couple of friends that I met in the library freshman year. Des is not like me at all, he's totally popular. When I looked back over my shoulder at Des he was being swarmed by a sea of people, sometimes I wondered how he didn't drown.
Inside the library, I said hi to the librarian. She doesn't like me, she always thinks I'm gonna make a lot of noise even though I never do. Usually, I just sit at my table in the back corner and do my homework. One of my friends were already there. Andy. His light red hair was sticking out in all directions like it always does, sometimes covering his pale face covered in freckles. I'm not completely sure he even has a hairbrush. Or a mirror. His pale green eyes met mine as I sat down in front of him sighing.
"Let me guess...Boyd's picking you up,"Andy guessed as I rubbed my face.
"How did you know?"I asked looking at him.
"You only rub your face like that when Boyd's picking you up. It's a subconscious effort to hide your eyes from the images you know you're about to see."Andy said smartly.
Andy's parents are therapists and psychologists so he knows all about that kind of stuff. He wants to be a doctor when he grows up which is no surprise because Andy is crazy smart and knows everything. Sometimes it can be annoying but other times it can come in handy. Someone else sat down next to me as I opened up my binder and pulled out my math homework. It was Ian. He had blonde hair and chocolate brown eyes. His hair was short and swooped to the left across his forehead like mine but my hair goes to the right.
