James pov

After cursing the door out, I scrambled up and quick as a flash ran to the other side of the house. Then I heard it her voice, so sweet and soft, saying "Bobo did they lock you out again?" I outwardly growled at that wondering who this Bobo guy was and why she was so calmly letting him in. I heard the door close and waited a few minutes before I went to see who this guy was. I got to the door and almost slapped myself, sitting right there at her feet, with his tail wagging, was obviously her dog. What is up with me? I'm never this protective of someone, especially a girl. I had to go clear my head so I went to scope the place out. I came back to her house after what seemed like 20 minutes and sensed that she still hasn't read the book because he would've known. Then it happened, the most heart shattering, soul wrenching, ear piercing scream came from the house, as I could only think DAWN! Which randomly popped into my head. I couldn't control myself and kicked down the door, with more force than necessary. The only coherent thought I had was mate, dawn, coming hold on! I ran directly to her room and that's when I saw it. Laying on her bed, white as snow, and cold to the touch was Dawn as she breathed heavily. I almost made it to the side of her bed when I heard it just barely a whisper the name James came out of her and that's when I knew I was correct. The last words to come out of her mouth was my name and I froze in place watching as her eyes glassed over into soulless voids of nothing. The only thing I could think as I went over to lay with her is, she's gone, I lost her, Dawn my mate I failed you and for that my love I am sorry. He had warned her about the book. Now it was too late.
