Scarlet

The next couple of days I buried myself in work. Not that I minded. I love my field of work. I had a couple of posts to edit along with some articles too. I had a photo shoot to do for a few hours along with a few bits and pieces around the office. It's been great. But I can't help but think about Niall.

I didn't know Niall was even going to be a father. When things changed four years ago, it was unexpected and I never thought about what was the reasoning behind it. If only I had known. He practically raised a child on his own and that's quite daunting.

The day that Niall told me to walk out of his life was the worst day of my life, by far. Not even failing Mathematics during high school was as bad as the day I lost my best friend.

*four years ago, August,12th*

"Yeah, Harry, I'll see you later." I laughed into my phone as I chatted to Harry. "Yes, Harry. I'm headed over to Niall's an- wait, why shouldn't I go over?"

"Sofie is over. I don't think it's a great idea. Could you just come over to mine and you can chill out and get Louis to move off the couch!" He rambled.

"Look, I'll go over to Niall's. I'll be there for ten minutes. I need to get my sketchbooks I left at his from Tuesday night. I'll be over at yours in half an hour at most." I told him. "I love you, H." I sang, hanging up.

I slid my phone into my jeans pocket, before grabbing my car keys, house keys and jacket before running out of my apartment.
I got into my car and drove the ten minute drive to Niall's house.

Shouting. That's all I heard.
I don't hate Sofie. I just dislike her. There's something weird about her. She's just everywhere, all the time. She's rude and she doesn't seem to really care about anyone else. The only reason I tolerated her was because Niall seemed to be happy and he cared about her.

As I climbed the short flight of stairs to his front door, I hesitated turning the key into the door. Despite my hesitations, I pushed the door open and walked through the foyer.

I turned into the lounge, where Sofie stood, arms crossed over her chest. Niall stood near the window, his hands in his hair, looking rather distressed.

"What great timing!" Sofie hissed as she looked at me. "She's always here."

I was taken aback. She's never spoken to me that way - no one ever has. I looked over at Niall, who couldn't look at me in the eye.

"I-I just came to get my books, I left here on Tuesday. I'll just come back later." I mumbled, walking backwards. I was stopped when Sofie hissed at me yet again.

"Take what you need and get out. Never come back. You and Niall are done." She told me, her words cutting through my chest. "Whatever so called friendship you have, is done!"

I looked over at Niall yet again trying to find any sort of explanation. Niall just stared at me, his eyes wide. At least he was looking at me.

"What is she talking about?" I asked him, my voice quivering slightly.

"You heard me. Get out. He doesn't want you in his life anymore."

"Niall?"

"S-Scarlet, I'm sorry."

"It's either she leaves or I do. And Niall, I swear to God, you'll never see me again. I'll take what's yours and leave."
