Scarlet
It's been three days since I got back from the Bahamas. I was slightly tanned in the midst of the cold London weather. It was a great break from work and just every day life, but now I was back at work. It was Wednesday, and I was currently at work, getting ready for a shoot. I was offered the chance to shoot the new winter range from Topshop, and it would be featured in the magazine. I was beyond excited and this would be a great opportunity to showcase my work. It was huge. As much as I enjoyed being the editor and being in the office, I missed going out on shoots and getting material for articles. I don't get to go out as much as I used to, so when I do, I take full advantage of it.
"Hey Scarlet, we need to be on set by four. We need the sunset in the shots as well, so we have to get going soon. We should leave just after lunch. Is that okay?" Rachel asked coming into my office. Rachel was my work best friend, as well as a photoshoot co-ordinator. She was one of the best.
"Yeah, definitely. I'll be done with the prep by one and I'll head out for a quick bite, head back and we can leave. We're meeting the models there, yeah?"
"They're getting there at two. They're in hair and make up until we get there. I've got to let them know what time they'll need to be ready by. I'll tell them to be ready by latest 3:15." She told me. "Oh, I think you're gonna love the models!" She grinned before walking out.
I wonder who the models were. In most cases, I always know who we hire, but this time Topshop had arranged everything. We were there just to do the shoot and feature it in the January issue of the magazine. It was for the launch of the mid-winter range. I was beyond excited.
I checked the time and it was just passed 11am, allowing me a good two hours of work, before lunch and then onto the shoot.
I swivelled around in my chair before adjusting my posture and getting back to the article I was editing. I managed to alter and make notes on what the article lacked and what needed changing. It took about half an hour to complete before I needed to start on a layout for a double page spread on the new Benefit Mascara that was going to be released soon.
By the time the two hours had ended before lunch, my desk was covered, from edge to edge, with various coloured paper, clippings and notes. The floor seemed to match and I realised how much mess I had made. It didn't seem to bother me, because this is something I truly enjoyed doing. It's times like this where I get drawn into my work and it's as if time doesn't exist. The two hours had passed by in my blur.
I cleaned up my desk a bit, packing away my laptop and rummaging through the pile of paper for my cell phone, before I made my way out the door.
"Ella, I'll be back after lunch to collect a few things before heading out. Please take any massages for me. I'll be back at the office around 8, you can leave the messages on the counter and you can leave as soon as you're done." I told my PA, sitting at a desk outside my office. "Before you leave, please make sure the final edit that I sent you, gets sent up to publishing for a final check before printing. It needs to be out before the end of the week." I instructed.
"Of course, Miss Graham. I'll be right on it." She nodded, already typing away in her laptop.
"Additionally, the information I sent you on the Maybelline event coming up needs to be sent to media so that they can get started on the social media promo for it. Once you're done with everything you can leave and I'll see you tomorrow. Have a great afternoon and evening." I drummed my fingers on the counter before I made my way to the elevator.
A few people greeted me along the way, and I responded with a greeting and a friendly smile.
I stepped onto the elevator as my phone rang in hand. I shifted my laptop in my other hand, before bringing my phone up to my ear.
