Scarlet

Before we knew it, it was the day before New Years Eve. The last two weeks went by in a blur. I had to meet many deadlines for work, and there were Christmas parties to plan, host and attend and it was a big rush. I went to three Christmas parties over three consecutive nights, and by the end of it all, I was beyond exhausted, and convinced that I was going to be terribly sick by Christmas. Luckily, I saved myself from any terrible illness by taking extra vitamins and spending an entire day sleeping. Niall came along to two of the parties, but opted out of the last one, since he needed to be home with Wesley that night. The poor kid had gotten a cold and wasn't doing too good. By the time I saw him three days later, he was doing a whole load better and things were back to normal. I spent an entire day with him, whilst Niall had a day of events he needed to plan and host, and we had the greatest time. I took him out for a bit of shopping, and we spent some time out playing games at the arcade. We ended our day at home, baking brownies and cupcakes. It was lovely. I felt a lot closer to Niall and Wesley. I didn't want to jinx it, but I truly felt like we were this small, happy family. I was happy.

I managed to spend a week with my family, who were very supportive of everything that was going on in my life, and were looking forward to soon meeting Niall, as my boyfriend this time. They had only ever met him once or twice in the past but it was not much to truly know who he was. Christmas was great; it was lovely to see all my family and spend some time off from work. I had received the usual Christmas gifts from my family; sweaters, make up, gift cards, money, socks. The weather the day after Christmas had taken a turn for the worst, where snow was littering the streets, which meant I had to really pull out the extra thick jackets and sweaters if I needed to go out.

I had arrived back in London late last night, so I was rather tired when I woke up this morning, at 7. I was spending the day with Niall, as a form of our own Christmas celebrations. Niall had offered me to stay over at his place after he picked me up from the train station. It was currently 8, and I was cuddled up in blankets on his massive couch.

"Breakfast is ready, pet!" Niall called from the kitchen.

"But I'm warm!" I groaned, stretching out my arms. I heard Niall's soft laugh from the kitchen and not long after, he was walking towards me with two plates in his hands.

"I thought you'd say that," He grinned, setting the plates on the coffee table in front of me. "Come on, ya have to eat! And then we have ugly Christmas sweaters to wear! We're doing this the right way!"

"I'm all for recreating our own little Christmas but the ugly sweaters are a no from me." I told him, taking a bite of toast. "I didn't even have to wear one back home." I complained.

"We are going to be cheesy and corny. We'll take a few pictures, open gifts and then you can take it off. Simple." He shrugged, before eating his beans on toast.

"You're lucky I love you," I mumbled. "Wesley should be up by now, is he alright?"

"He's been sleeping a bit more recently. When we went back home, he was sleeping later and waking up late. He should be up around 9, though." Niall explained.

"How is everyone back home?" I asked. Over the past two weeks, we hadn't managed to talk as much as we usually would. It was all quick calls before bed and in the morning.

"All good. Ma should be comin' around in a few weeks. She wants a bit of a break from Ireland, I guess." He shrugged. "It was great to see everyone again, and it was nice to see Wes playin' around with some of me cousins."

"Ah, I'm glad. I'm glad you had a nice time." I told him, setting my now empty plate down, and grabbing my cup of coffee.

"Were you sad to leave your family? I know how much you miss them."
