Puck
I pace my room trying not to look into Noahs window where he starts undressing before climbing into bed. I look down at my tank top and sleeping shorts and try for the fifth time to crawl into bed and get some shut eye.
I close my eyes and try not to puke. I had a nightmare again. He pinned me down in the barn. His friend grabbed the branding iron and dipped it in the fire. "This'll teach you to run into my cigarette again girl," my father spit on me.
"Here Richard." his friend handed him the branding pole.
"Hold her down Fred," Fred pinned my arms and grinned at me. I thrashed trying to break free but he squeezed so hard he left bruises.
"Hey Richard you wanna know what else your name stands for?" I wheeze.
"Dick."
"You're worse than your dumb bitch of a mother. Don't ever think you'll be free of me. I'll always own you, you fat cow." he presses the burning hot iron onto my exposed flesh and I arch my back and scream.
The skin burns and the stench of it chokes me. Tears are running down my face mixing with my blood.
I break from the memory and gasp. I sit up and looking back out the window. Noah looks so peaceful just laying there. Without thinking about what I'm doing, I slip on my boots and slide out my window. I walk a few steps to his window and carefully slide it up.
I slip inside and am surprised to see Noah fully conscious staring back at me.
"Puck?" He whispers.
My whole body shakes, "Noah." I croak.
"Come here Angel." He whispers. I move closer and crawl onto his bed. "What's the matter?"
"I am so sick of the nightmares Noah. I can't do this alone anymore."
"You don't have to Puck." He tells me.
I know this is crazy, but I need Noah. There's a chance he could take away the nightmares. I won't have to wake screaming or in fear anymore.
"What do you want to do Puck?" He asks.
I look into his indigo blue eyes and say,"I want you to sleep with me."
A wicked grin flairs on his face and my cheeks flame.
"Not like that Noah! Just...sleep with me. Like actual sleeping. I don't know if this will work but if there's a chance you can take away the nightmares I want to take it." I am suddenly shut up by Noahs mouth pressed against mine.
His lips are feather soft and he keeps his mouth closed. It's like his lips are barely touching mine.
The ghost of a kiss that I want so badly.
"What're you waiting for?" he whispers against my lips.
I shut up and slide under the covers. My legs tangle with his and he flips me so I'm facing away from him and slings an arm over the dip in my side.
As I drift off I think of how perfectly my body fits against his.
Like we were made for each other, I think. I am so stupid.
