                                                       Puck

Boy takes girl on date, girl sleeps in boys arms, girl provides boy with donuts and boy...takes girl bowling?

"Noah I don't even know how to bowl," I grumble as he leads me out of his truck by the hand and into the neon bowling alley. He turns back to me with a grin like the cheshire cat.

"Puck c'mon it'll be fun." Noah tugs me into his side and I wonder again what we were doing, this pretending..but to me it didn't feel as though we were pretending. I felt like this was real, that Noah and I actually stood a chance.

I feel my stomach lurch a little when I realize I might be putting Noah at risk. He continues on unaware as he asks for our bowling shoes I push away those thoughts deciding to deal with them later.

He leads me to a more secluded lane probably guessing I'm not going to be very comfortable around a lot of people. I put on my shoes while Noah sets up our lane.

Party in the U.S.A. turns on the radio and Noah throw his hands up and begins shaking his hips singing along with Miley. I begin to laugh and realize I'm feeling genuinely happy.

I get up to go get a bowling ball I think will be apropriate to my size and grab an eight pounder. When I get back I see Noah has put me up as Lois Lane and Himself as Superman.

"Hardy har har," I drawl giving him a half smirk. His eyes light up and he laughs a bit. I feel a cameraderie begin to grow between us and it feels natural, like it has always been this way.

"Noah!" someone shouts. I stay with my back turned from them and give Noah a help me look.

He takes my hand tugging me half behind him as he says, "Daniel hey man."

I peek around Noah and realize this is the kid I slapped back at IHop when he hit on Amy. "Who're you hiding there buddy?" the sound of his voice is smug like he already knows who it is and wants Noah to admit it.

I kinda do too.

Noah tugs me in front of him and says, "Puck meet Daniel."

Daniel grins and sticks out a hand, "Now that we can meet properly."

I feel a moment of hesitation to stick my hand in his and curse my father for making me unable to socialize like a normal teenager.

I place my hand in his and he squeezes pulling me into an immediate hug. I stop breathing for a minute and try to control the panic trying to swell in me.

No I will not be controlled by fear.

I make myself relax and sink into his hug. You know those lacksidaisical summer days where the sun is high in the sky and completely open and blue sounds of life are humming around you and it smells like burning wood and burgers it gives you this sense of comfort like everything is alright in the world? Daniel is like that. I can feel it in his hug.

He releases me and says, "Mind if I join your little game?"

Noah looks at me as if to ask my permission. I nod and he punches in Daniels name, two other kids on their hockey team join and someone orders cheese fries.

Oh man cheese fries.

Apparently, I go first.

I give Noah a pleading look, "I want to go back to my bed and my dog."

Noah fakes a stern look at me. "No you're going to have fun Puck."

I make a face and curse not having ever done this before. I get into the bowlers stance I had seen on tv and go to roll the ball down the lane.
