They make us run and jump onto a moving train, it isn't that hard, if you don't think about the possibility that you could die at any given moment.

"Are they trying to kill us or what?" a girl in Candor black and white says to Beatrice and I.

"It looks like it!" I say to her.

"Christina," she says holding her hand out for me to shake.

"Brianna, and this is Beatrice," I say. We both shake her hand.

People are jumping from the train, onto the roof of a building.

"Together?" I say to Beatrice and Christina. They both nod, and we move to the opposite side of the train.

"Now!" Christina says, and we all run, and jump. We all tumble into the rooftop.

"I think the are really trying to kill us!" Beatrice says. We help each other up, and brush the gravel and dirt off of ourselves.

"Dauntless is all about being brave. This is the entrance, you will all have to jump," a Dauntless leader says.

"Is there like water at the bottom or something?" a boy that was from Erudite asks.

"I guess you'll just have to find out," the leader says, "Who's going to go first?"

We all look around at each other, and no one speaks up.

"For goodness sakes, I'll do it!" I say walking up to the ledge and climbing up.

I stand there for a bit and the Dauntless leader says, "Come on Stiff, I don't have all day."

I scoff, roll my eyes and say, "Sure you do! You gotta wait for all of them!" With that, I jump.

The thing about falling, is that you don't know when you'll land. It just feels like you're flying for a few seconds. For a few seconds you're weightless, you're free.

I land on a net, and bounce back up a few feet before I land completely. A man pulls down the net so I can get off.

"You good?" he asks. I nod. "What's you're name?"

"Bria-" I say before stopping myself. I came here for a new me.

"What? Is it a hard one?" he asks, "Go ahead, pick a name, but make it a good one. You won't be able to pick again later."

"Bri," I say after thinking for a few seconds.

"First jumper, Bri!" he announces. There is a round of applause for a few seconds before it does down, and Beatrice comes down after me.

"Name?" the man asks.

She thinks for a few seconds before saying, "Tris."

"Second jumper, Tris!" he announces again. Tris and I quickly hug each other.

"Tris?" I ask, "I like it. Suits you."

"Did he ask for your name too?" she asks.

"Yeah, Bri," I say.

"Isn't that my nickname for you?" she asks.

"Yeah, but I needed a new me, a new start," I say throwing an arm around her shoulders.

After everyone has jumped and gotten down, the man says, "Dauntless born, I'm assuming you know your way around. Transfers with me!"

"What's your name?" Christina asks him.

"Four," he replies.

She scoffs and asks, "What? Like the number?"

He nods and says, "Yes, exactly like the number." She laughs a bit.

"Why? Because one, two and three were taken?" she asks extremely sarcastic.

He glares at her, then says, "If I wanted to put up with Candor smart mouths, I would've joined their faction. First lesson you'll learn, shut up and listen. I am Four, I'll be your trainer for the next ten weeks. The first half of training is physical, push your bodies to the breaking point. The second half is mental, push your minds to the breaking point. This where you will be staying for the next ten weeks."

"Girls or guys? Or both?" a boy from Candor asks.

"Both," Four replies. All the guys start cheering and the girls groan. "If you like that, you'll love the bathroom. Get changed and come to the Pit." With that, he leaves.

The same set if clothing for girls is set out on every bed on the girls side, and the same for the boys. We all quickly get changed. I change in record time, it's just my nature.

"Why did you change so fast Stiff? Afraid someone will come get you?" a Candor boy asks. I ignore him. "Hey! I'm talking to you!"

He grabs my shoulder.

"You shouldn't have done that," I say before kicking back and hitting him straight in the crotch. I quickly flip his arm and twist it close to breaking. I drop his arm, and he drops to the floor.

"Peter is an ass, you'll get used to it though," Christina says. I pull on my jacket and toss my old clothes in the fire.

"I'm sure I will," I say sarcastically. I pull my bun out, and pull my wavy blonde hair into a pony tail.

Christina, Tris and I all head to the Pit.
