Sitting on the board walk, Ursula waited for her human. If she could call him, her's.

And her, his'.

They had only shared a few kisses.

What's a few kisses?

She asked herself. Its not like she was breaking any laws. Not yet, anyway. A sin, sure. But she didn't see any Gods present.

Or was she? It was never stated that mermaids couldn't love a human. Mostly because it seldom happened.

Was this love? Or just some summer romance? Perhaps it wasn't romance at all, perhaps it was all in her head.

Perhaps she was just another woman for Gaston to... and then... Exhaling deeply, her thoughts trailed off.

When he had finally arrived Ursula kept in mind the possibility that their love may not be love at all.

Though that didn't stop her from kissing him. Or from laying on top of him, as if a wife might.

Kissing his neck, biting his ear. It did not stop her from anything. What did stop her, was her tail.

A purple, slimy, fish tail. Not that she didn't like her tail. Quite the contrary, she found tails much more attractive than legs.

"What?" He asked, after she had gotten up off of him, and sat up. She looked down to where her body ended. A fish's tail.

"Oh". He understood. "Unless." She said, perking up.

"What?" He asked.

"Magic!" She sang.

"You believe in magic?" He laughed.

"Don't you?" She asked, leaning closer.

"You'd think I would, considering our circumstance." he joked. "But not really. No."

"My step-father" as the words fell out of her mouth, she knew the whole idea was wrong. "Has, or had, a trident."

"A magic trident?" He laughed.

"Yes, a magic trident!" She said, mocking his intelligence.

He knew what she was getting at, and he liked it.

"If I can sneak into the throne room, where he kept it" perking up, as she spoke, her own words surprising herself. "I can transform myself into a human!"

"I rather like that idea, very much" he said, kissing her once again.

They spent the night, simply laying next to each other. Dreaming about their possible future.
