After you left Sherlock behind in the flat with his case, you decided to attend your brother's birthday party all alone, interacting with family members and old friends you hadn't seen in a long time.

No one noted the forced smiles, weary eyes, and the absence of your partner.

Everyone expect your brother.

Your brother was the only one who had noticed your odd behavior. Concerned, he pulled you to the side and asked if something had happened earlier in the day that was bothering you.

You lied, not wanting to ruin his birthday.

Knowing he was watching you very closely, you plastered a bright grin on your face. You waved his concerns off, assuring him that nothing had happened, and added a quick lie that you were just lightheaded from eating so much sugar.

Luckily, he bought it.

Around ten o'clock in the evening you left, after making an excuse up about having work early in the morning. You wished your brother a happy birthday as he hugged you goodbye.

Instead of returning home, you wandered through the streets of London, cursing dark-haired boyfriends with rainbow eyes for acting stupid, cursing highly intelligent sociopaths for being bloody idiots, and cursing detectives who played the violin for being to busy with their cases to spend time with their significant other.

Pouting, you kicked a nearby can to an alley. "Stupid Sherlock."

"Hey, watch it!" A loud voice screamed.

You took a step back, eyes widening, since you weren't expecting to find the homeless woman sleeping in the alley. You realised as you saw the can in her hand why she was glaring at you.

"I'm so sorry." You stated, eyes apologetic. "I didn't mean to hit you with the can, miss."

"Whatever." She scowled before she pulled her dirty blanket over herself, going back to sleep.

You continued walking, grumbling under your breath. "Stupid Sherlock, making me look bad in the eyes of the lovely homeless lady."

Somehow, around midnight, you ended up in a park not far away from the flat.

After detecting a small pond where the water was reflecting the moonlight, you took a seat on a bench. Leaning backwards, you closed your eyes and enjoyed the silence in the park.
