Marina Shore's POV
I glance back one more time at my stylist, Destiny. She gives me a thumbs up, smiling ecstatically. It's disgusting how she is excited to see us die; betting on who will pass first. My red locks are scraped up into a high ponytail. A few shorter strands hang at the side of my head.
Anxiously, I wonder what type of arena we will be thrown in. I've been alive long enough to see many different types of arenas on television. There seems to be a lot with the ideal, simple forests, lakes and fields. However deep down I know well enough that the game makers will not give us a simple arena. This is the one hundredth hunger games, a quarter quell! I should probably expect the worst. But they have to give us some kind of forest for concealment... They can't just put us in an open desert, because otherwise the games would end to quickly.
My mind switches to the other tributes, to Kai. I know well enough that there is only one victor, however I can't seem to get my head round that one of us or both of us will die in a matter of days.
My hands begin to shake, my legs begin to wobble, my mind begins to go crazy as the tube platform begins to rise. I take deep breaths as my vision is blinded by sharp light.
I blink furiously, trying to see where I am located. The bright light slowly begins to fade.
I swivel my head around to look at my surroundings. We are placed in what seems like a town square; run down shops and cafés face towards us. There are pathways leading off of them and from what I can see all there is, is more shops, a few houses and the odd other building. We are in an abandoned city.
The other tributes look just as confused as I feel. This has never been done before. Normally the arena is something very natural, like forest or mountains, sometimes even tropical rainforests.
The hot sun beats down on us as the timer ticks down the seconds.
"Ladies and gentlemen, let the one hundredth hunger games..."

"Begin!" The voice of Elranius Exceed booms.
GONG!
I leap off my platform, grabbing a pack of crackers and a sheet of plastic. In a moment of adrenaline I sprint forwards and grab a dark green back pack. I pull it over my shoulders.
The fight at the cornucopia has already started as I head northwards. My boots smack the dry concrete as I stumble down the wide pathway. Ahead of me I see a small girl. As she notices my presence she dives to the left out of my sight.
Distracted by the girl, I run straight into something.
"Ugh!" I grunt.
The thing wraps me into it's arms and I immediately feel safe.
"Kai." I whisper, relieved I have found him. He strokes my hair fondly.
"We better get going Marina, we have to get as far away as possible from the cornucopia.
With that we trek onwards.
Marzia Honey's POV
I clasp Dixie's hand tightly. We have decided to head south, towards the street of restaurants. We decided to go in the opposite direction to the five star hotel, as it is likely the careers will camp there.
I press my hands onto Dixie's stomach, pushing us back into the wall. We try to keep our breaths quiet as two shadows appear at the cross road in our pathway. Cautiously, we sliver ourselves behind an over sized bin.
