Capitol Update ~ Reapings Part 1

Plutus Pamper's POV

I run around in circles with excitement; President Snow has not only given me the honour of being an escort, he has given me the opportunity to be the Capitol updater and the tribute interviewer! This is the oppurtunity of a lifetime, what an honour!

"Plutus, your live in 60 seconds," My stylists says, her voice tinged with a western accent. Not sure where she got that from - surely she must be from the Capitol?

Anyhow, I try and contain my excitement, as I stand backstage to get my last bits of make up done. My eyes are dusted with silver glitter, as well as my lashes being dipped in thick, neon blue gel. My outfit looks like it has come from outerspace - literally! It is made from glossy silver material, covering my entire body, matched with knee length boots made from the same material and are studded with sparkling jewels of all kinds.

I yelp in surpirse as my stylists shove me onto stage, but recover quickly effortlessly running my hands through my gleaming gelled hair. The lights blind me for a moment, before the buzzing crowd comes into focus, causing a stupidly large smile to overpower my lips.

"Hello, I am Plutus Pamper and this is your Capitol Update! Hasn't it been a very eventful last few hours? Already we have half our courageous tributes, who will be competing in the 100th Hunger Games!" I yell enthusiastically, as the crowd roars with excitement.

"Let's start off in District 1. We had two very eager volunteers. First of all the stunning Ruby Shimmer, aged nineteen who just bounded up onto stage like the cutest little puppy, but looking at her muscles she definetely seems like a worthwhile contestant! After Ruby, the handsome Bronze Cayne volunteered, aged 24! Now, judging from his looks, I know he will be a hit with the ladies... Anyway, they were both very confident they would make their district proud, so lets see if they do, aye?!"

"From District two - the district of masonry, we also had a volunteer! Surprise surprise! The fabulously handome Alec Horne volunteered, aged twenty-two! He definetely seems like a perfect team player for Ruby and Bronze, but who knows, perhaps he prefers to go solo! Then the not-quite-so-confident Beau Annis was selected, aged thirty-three!Bless his little cotton socks, I'm sure he will be a laugh! I'm sure... both tributes will do fantastically in this year's games!"

The crowd bursts into cheering and laughter, and chant both tribute's names but more for Alec, mostly the attention for Beau is jokingly, he must be a favourite!

"Now, shall we move onto District 3 - the district of Technology? In district three's reaping something heart-melting happened... Twins were picked, but not just any twins, eleven year old twins.Dixie and Marzia Honey look very capable and smart but mostly they are the most adorable tributes ever to be picked! Am I right?"

I chuckle, throwing my head back and patting my stomach as the crowd screams their names, awing and chanting, "Your right! They are just adorable!"

"Next, District 4 - The district of Fishing! Am I sensing a lil' love story between Kai Wyatt and Marina Shore? I do love some love in the games, spices it up a bit, am I right? The heart-break, the trauma, the plot-twists - oh I can't wait! Both tributes are aged sixteen, Marina is absolutely stunning with her bright red hair and such light blue eyes, beautiful, just beautiful! Whilst Kai looked very strong and handsome - definitely a heart-throb! I've also heard rumours of him being very skill-full with a trident!We shall see, my fellows, we shall see! Anyhow I'm sure they will bring pride to their district!"

The crowd chants their names in admiration.

"Moving swiftly onto district five - The district of Power! What happened in this district, is a first in history. Mother and daughter were picked, now friends this, I believe, will be very interesting to see how their loving bond will take place in the arena! As you all know, there is only one winner, so this will be heart-breaking but..." I break off, wiping away pretend tears.

The crowd is silent, taking it all in, but then they carry on cheering.

"Now for district six - the district if transport! The first tribute to be picked was Paige Aldon, aged fifteen! Her bright blonde curls truly stood out among the rest, she is definitely a stunner, but I see a true fighter within her! Then the second tribute was picked, Jace Minkley, aged 40! The camera couldn't quite catch it but I can now inform it has been certified that Paige whispered 'I'm going into the Hunger Games with the man who murdered my Father,"! I'm looking forward to see what all that means in the tribute interviews! Boy, will this be an exciting couple of weeks!"

The audience cheers, obviously wanting too know more as well.

"Finally District seven - the district of Lumber! The first tribute to be selected was Oak Bailey, aged eighteen! He seemed quite shy, or a little intimidated of district seven's escort, Florentina Flannock! Well, we all know she can get a lil' excited, but isn't she just the sweetest? The next tribute to be chosen was Rowanna Russell, aged fifteen. Now, boy is she a tribute to look out for! She hissed and bared her sharp teeth, definitely seems like a very intresting tribute!"

"Until next time, I'm Plutus Pamper and that was your Capitol Update! Happy Hunger Games and may the odds be ever in your favor! Toodle-Pip!" I squawk and then hop off the stage, waving merrily.
