John's POV
At least a month has passed since Alex and I started dating, and I must say that it's been the best month ever. Alex is so patient, kind, charming, and smart. Just thinking about him makes my heart flutter. I planned on meeting Hercules and Lafayette at this new café. 1776 or something. Alex of course couldn't join us, which is no surprise since he's a perfectionist and must finish his work before the deadline.
As I walked into the café, I spotted my friends at booth talking away. Lafayette glanced over at the door and a grin grew on their face. I waved and went over to them. "Mon ami! Isn't this place magnifique?" They chirped happily and I nodded. "It's nice." I hummed, looking around. Hercules chuckled and pulled Lafayette closer to him. "So, we haven't seen you in a while. What's keeping you hidden from us?" Hercules inquired, quirking a brow. I cleared my throat and shrugged, "I've been busy. I have some test coming up and you know about Mr. Washington's project will be due soon." I said, trying to change the subject. Hercules rolled his eyes and picked up his mug, taking a sip from it. "John, I know you. You are the king of procrastination. So, what's really going on?"
I bit my lip and I could feel my cheeks go fire hot. "Okay, I have a boyfriend!" I exclaimed and covered my face with my hands. I heard Lafayette squeal and clap happily. "Oh mon Dieu! Notre Johnny grandit si vite!" They said excitedly. I peeked through my fingers and looked at Hercules. He blinked and smiled, holding out a thumbs up. "Good job. I didn't think you had it in you." I huffed and pushed back my hair. "It's my new roommate. We kinda...hit it off on the first day." I said sheepishly.
Lafayette was bouncing excitedly and smiled. "Well, who's the lucky guy?" They asked, hardly keeping in their excitement. "Alexander Hamilton." I said quietly, a small smile forming on my face. Lafayette stopped bouncing and their eyes widened. "Mon petit lion?" They mumbled quietly. Hercules glanced down at Lafayette and rose a brow. "You know him?" Lafayette laughed softly, "Know him? Il est comme un frère pour moi!" They said with a toothy grin. I let out a sigh of relief and slumped down in my chair. "Yeah, he mentioned that he knew you." I hummed and tapped my finger on the table.
"Okay, besides all of that. Does he know?" Hercules asked, leaning over the table. I blinked and slowly shook my head. "I'm gonna wait before telling him." I murmured and fiddled with my sleeves. Hercules sighed and gave me a serious look. "You can't hide this from him. You know what happened last time." I grunted and sat up a bit. "Last time was a mistake. I'm smarter now. I'll tell Alexander soon."
Of course I had things hidden from Alexander. Nothing too drastic. It's not like I murdered my family or anything, but I want to see how far we go. I want to know I can trust him. I want to know if we'll last at all. There's no point in letting him know all about me if we end what we have. I mean, a little secret never hurt anyone.
