Gulf and Kobi sat on the porch, watching the last sliver of yellow sunlight disappear beyond the horizon.
Is this a good time to tell her about what happened? Gulf wondered as the first stars began to twinkle on the midnight blanket, but Kobi got to speaking first.
"Gulf," she said, "I am going to be going away for a little while."
"What?" Gulf's merlot eyes widened in shock.
"I'm going back to visit the rainforest." she told her, "but don't worry, I'll come back."
Gulf considered going with her, but then remembered the need to keep her gills wet, her family, and the fact that she had never met so many dragons at once.
After some time of silence, Kobi's eyes grew sad, and her scales went shades of green, black, and gray.
"What is it, Kobi?" Gulf asked, noticing her change in emotion.
"Gulf, I suppose it's time I told you something."
