Hoseok was a very lively fifth year, always happy and encouraging, earning him the nickname "hope". This made him fit right in with his fellow Hufflepuffs.

He was a popular one, a type of guy like Cedric Diggory- he helped and loved others regardless of their house. He was also a prefect, but would occasionally let his housemates sneak around if needed. This earned him the "cool kid" badge, and other students would go to him with any problems or favors they needed to ask of Hoseok. They ranged from, "Hey, I forgot my notes in the classroom, I'll be right back" to "Don't let any of my mates in the room, yeah? Tell them to sleep in the common room." He didn't realize, but others often took advantage of him like this. A part of him did realize, though, but he would never do anything about it. After all, he's their "hope".

Even though many people considered him their friend, he really only chose a select few to share his thoughts with. Taehyung was one of these people. They met two years ago, when Taehyung was sitting outside trying to nurse an abandoned baby bird back to health. Hoseok approached him and offered to help- the pair have been best friends ever since.

Despite his constant attitude of sunshine, Hoseok had some darkness within him, too. Not even Taehyung knows about this. Hoseok is one susceptible to jealousy, and refuses to let anyone know his real feelings. Instead, he throws on a mask and parades around acting as everyone's cheerleader.

However, this jealousy never arose until Jungkook caught Taehyung's eye. You see, Hoseok likes Taehyung, but he's noticed Taehyung only has eyes for Jungkook. He knows they would be happy together, so he backed off, and has been acting a little distant towards Taehyung. Even Jimin, never having introduced himself to Hoseok, knew what was up when he saw Taehyung and Jungkook talking after dinner and noticed Hoseok looking at them with a look of sadness and envy.

After the feast in the Great Hall, and after seeing Taehyung's little flirtation with Jungkook, Hoseok chose to ponder around and eventually wound up outside. A pond sat behind a thick line of trees, perfectly undisturbed, and a perfect place to clear the mind. Hoseok walked down closer to the water and sat down, gazing at the moon's reflection over the still water. He sighed, and laid his head back on the ground, finally noticing the person standing above him.

"What the hell?! Who are you?" Hoseok yelled and stood up, being all too startled with another presence.

"Chill, man. I'm not here to bring you back. How do you know about this place?" the presence asked.

"How do you know about this place?" Hoseok asked, crossing his arms.

"You're quite moody for a Hufflepuff." the other said and laughed, stopping when he saw Hoseok's glare. He sighed, and threw his hands in his pockets. "Found this my first year, but forgot about it until recently. You?"

Hoseok gave in. "Found it two years ago when I was running around with friends." He returned his glance to the water. "Something on your mind?" the other asked. Hoseok nodded. "Yeah, yeah a lot's on my mind." The stranger sat down next to him, and pulled his knees up, letting his elbows rest on either one. "Min Yoongi. You are?" he stretched his hand, facing Hoseok. "Jung Hoseok." Hoseok smiled back at Yoongi, and for what seemed like an eternity, the two sat in silence until Hoseok decided to tell him what was going on.

"I'm in love with my best friend but he doesn't feel the same.." Hoseok said very quietly, barely whispering. "I'm not quite sure what to do now."

Yoongi turned himself to face towards him. "Just let it happen. I know it's hard to let someone go, but maybe looking elsewhere could lead you to someone else, someone better.." Yoongi trailed off.

Hoseok smiled. "Thanks, hyung. I'll try that."

Yoongi furrowed his brows. "How did you know I'm older?"

Hoseok shrugged. "Lucky guess?"

Yoongi nodded. "Alright, works for me. I'm going to head back in now, though, I'm exhausted." He got up, and Hoseok threw his arms around him.

"Thank you."

"Aish, kid, don't be mushy." Yoongi scruched his nose. "But you're welcome. I hope you figure this out." He waved back at Hoseok as he disappeared behind the trees.

I should probably go too, don't wanna be caught.

And with that, Hoseok trudged back to his dorm.

"Hobii! Where have you been?" Taehyung asked, hugging Hoseok as he entered the common room.

"Just wandering, Tae." he replied, and walked up to his room. The rest of his friends greeted him, and started chattering, discussing classes or new boys or girls that they were into.

"Oh, dude, she's wayyy out of your league, don't even bother."

"Really? I thought he was the quiet type!"

"Sorry buddy, she's taken."

Eventually the chatting died down, and they all climbed into bed.

To make matters worse, Taehyung's bed was right next to Hoseok's.

Taehyung wasn't even supposed to be in their dorm, but one of the Hufflepuff rooms burnt down and was magically unpredictable and unstable, due to a "light" drinking mishap. So, each of the students was moved to a different dorm, resulting in Taehyung sharing a room with Hoseok.

Hoseok pretended to sleep so Taehyung wouldn't try and talk to him. Yeah, he loves him, but right now he just needs to forget, to give up on Taehyung.

After he was sure Taehyung was asleep, he opened his eyes to look at the younger. His bangs stuck against his forehead, and his mouth was slightly ajar. Hoseok smiled slightly, and then turned away, trying to think about Yoongi hyung's words.

This is gonna be a loonggg night...
