Hey guys, this is a little author's note I'm putting in right now (2020) to clear up a few things about this book! For starters I wrote this ages ago! When I was 13-14 to be exact. I'm well aware of the minor plot holes, incorrect spell uses and weird plotlines. I honestly just wrote this for fun, I never ever expected anyone other than me to read it! I'm just putting this at the beginning because I'm a tinyyyy bit tired of the comments of people accusing me of being a "fake fan" or a bad writer or something along those lines. Like love, I was THIRTEEN when I wrote this just for FUN. I honestly wasn't expecting it to get this many reads! I was just having fun and writing a dramione fanfic that sounded cool to me, not trying to be the next JK Rowling and getting every single piece of Harry Potter lore thoroughly researched and analysed or anything haha.
That being said, I am so so so grateful for those who continue to support this fanfiction! Love you all so much. I can guarantee you won't have read a hp fic quite like this one. If romance fanfiction is your cup of tea, perhaps this book isn't for you as I would more describe this as a thriller/fantasy-esque fanfiction that has a unique storyline, however of course involving the characters of Harry Potter. So in conclusion, this is in no way a fanfiction to take seriously, it's simply a fun story I wrote at 13! I think that's everything, so please enjoy :))
Hogwarts was buzzing with excitement. It wasn't everyday that Mcgonagall called a surprise meeting in the great hall.
"What do you think she wants?" Hermione Granger asked her best friend Ginny Weasley as they walked down the hall.
"Haven't a clue" the redhead replied, slightly wracked with nerves. "I can't help but feel a little worried... What if it's bad news?"
"Hey, don't think like that, Ginny! Voldemort's gone, remember? Harry defeated him last year, Hogwarts got rebuilt and now we're back for one last year! This place is like Fort Knox, we're perfectly safe" Hermione noticed that Ginny furrowed her eyebrows at the phrase 'fort knox'.
"I hope whatever that place is, it's safe. Never heard of it before" she said as the pair of them walked through the doors to the great hall. They noticed that already, it was almost full, bursting with students full of chatter. Hermione slid next to Harry, and Ginny went opposite them.
"Morning" she smiled. "Do you know what this is about?"
"Haven't a clue" Harry admitted, the corners of his mouth tightening. Just at that moment, Mcgonagal stood up and tapped her goblet with her wand, making a sound signalling for everyone to quiet down. "I guess we're about to find out" . Once everyone's conversations emitted nothing but silence, the headmistress waltzed in front of the student body, beaming.
"Good morning, students" she said, her dark green robes sweeping around her as she paced. "You're probably wondering why I summoned you today and that is because of an exciting event we have planned for you on Friday night." people began to murmur amongst themselves. "This Friday, we are going to have what is known as the Polyjuice Party. A night in which everyone drinks a random polyjuice potion, transforming themselves into another member of the student body. Then, they can mingle and hang out and do whatever they please with others, completely anonymous and without the knowledge of who their new friend really is. When the clock strikes midnight, we will all transform back to our usual selves and all will be revealed to us. There's a catch. You can't tell anyone who you really are under the effect of the potion, or you'll spoil the entire thing. Have fun, I hope you make some unexpected friends."
Everyone was quiet after the announcement. Lots of wacky and strange scenarios passed through Hermione's mind. Who would she meet? What would happen between them? Who would they turn out to be? All she could think about was if Ron met another girl and fell in love with her instead. And with Hermione's luck, that seemed likely.
"What an odd idea" Harry raised his eyebrows. "But I kinda like it". Ginny kicked his shin under the table. "Ouch!" he exclaimed. "What was that for?"
"Don't ever think abut leaving me for another girl, Potter. Or I'll make your life a living hell" she narrowed her eyes menacingly. Harry gulped, his Adam's apple bobbing.
"Yeah, and you too Ron" Hermione piped up, turning to him.
"I don't know, Hermione... It could be fun" he tried to be reasonable. Hermione couldn't help but feel like her relationship with Ron only existed because it would be a perfect story book ending if it did. It was almost as if she felt like she just had to love him. Like she had to go with him, to wrap the story up once and for all. She just couldn't face the awkwardness if they broke up, so that's why she bit the bullet and stayed with him. I mean, he was fine, I guess.
"One more thing" Mcgonagal raised her hand, taking to the spotlight once again, "please keep it G rated guys! This is Hogwarts, not one of those... One of those inappropriate clubs!" in response, everyone burst into a fit of laughter.
"Like that's going to happen!" someone yelled over from the Slytherin table. Mcgonagal shook her head in dismay. Hermione was pretty sure that the voice belonged to Draco Malfoy.
"Well, let's see how well that goes" Hermione shrunk down in her seat a little bit. "We have Charms now, we should um, we should get going" she stood up and walked out of the great hall, Ginny by her side.

"Bollocks" Draco said, lounging back into one of the Slytherin common room's sofas. "Absolutely rubbish. Why would we want to take part in something as stupid as that?" He turned to Blaise Zabini.
"Because it would be funny" Blaise said tiredly "to see who the Slytherin prince ends up with". Draco cocked his head to the side, running a hand through his hair.
"But no one would know it's me, so that logic doesn't work" he sat up again. "Unless... Yeah. Ok. I have a plan"
"That would be?" Blaise asked, loosening the green striped tie that hung so tightly around his neck.
"I'm not going to drink a polyjuice potion. I'm not going to donate any of my hair. Neither is Astoria. We'll just go as ourselves and hang out as the boyfriend and girlfriend that we actually are" he was pleased with his logic. Suddenly, Astoria Greengrass walked in the room, surrounded by about a dozen first year Slytherins.
"Tell us more, Astoria!" One piped up, and Astoria turned to her, a knowing smile planted on her smug face.
"Don't ever sit next to Professor Slughorn when watching a Quidditch game, he rambles the whole time and smells like boiled cabbage" she jutted her chin out, nodding ever so slightly. "Oh, and if George Weasley ever visits the school, don't mention the words 'Fred', 'twins', 'partner in crime' or 'brothers' to him. He has a nervous breakdown" she tilts her head, before continuing "actually, you can if you want to. It's pretty funny to see him literally sobbing his heart out". She does a cruel impression of someone wailing in sadness, making all the first years laugh.
Draco tutted. Astoria often didn't act with compassion, just with the need to be liked and popular. But oh well. She was the only girl that didn't treat him like deatheater scum.
"Hey Astoria" he called over. "Don't donate a strand of hair for Friday night. Just go as yourself and we can hang out"
"Yep, right, ok whatever you want" she said absent-mindedly, lecturing her 'fans' about how to tick off Moaning Myrtle. Draco sighed.
Draco couldn't help but feel like his relationship with Astoria only existed because it would be a stereotypical bad-guy story book ending. It was almost as if he felt like he just had to love her. Like he had to go with her, to wrap the story up once and for all. He just couldn't face the awkwardness if they broke up, so that's why he bit the bullet and stayed with her. I mean, she was fine, I guess.
[does that scenario sound familiar?]
