Hermione could barely remember what happened next. She remembered seeing lots of people fussing around her, then being lifted out of the underground cavern and being hit with the natural sunlight she'd craved for so long.

Then, there was darkness again and she woke up on a bed in St. Mungo's.

"Hermione?" A voice called out.

"Huh?" She replied deliriously.

"I asked if you saw anyone else in that underground cavern other than Ronald and Lucius."

"Oh." Hermione rubbed her eyes, her arm feeling heavy and she noticed a drip pumping a clear liquid through a tube into her forearm. "J-just those two. A-and then Harry, Ginny, Draco and the four first years and I."

"I see." Hermione turned her head to see who she was speaking to. Her entire body felt heavy. It was a woman dressed in Ministry-formal attire, a detective maybe, with strawberry blonde hair pulled back in a tight bun. "And Draco Malfoy didn't know about his father being there? Let me rephrase - did he ever seem as though he was aware of the plan of the death eaters?"

Hermione could barely believe her ears. "You think Draco was in on this?" She demanded.

"Just need to check all possible scenarios - considering his past and all, Miss Granger."

"Well no! No he wasn't! I thought that would be clear and all considering he was the one who turned Ron and Lucius into ladybirds!" Hermione felt her cheeks getting hot.

The detective stood up. "Apologies, Miss Granger. Please calm down, you're in critical condition after being crucioed so many times. I can come back later."

Hermione hoped she wouldn't. With that, she left the room and not even five seconds later, Draco Malfoy hurried inside.

For a moment, Hermione had worried that he'd heard when the detective had said, but it didn't seem so. "Hermione, oh my god how are you?" He bent down at her bedside and kissed her hand. The place where his lips touched her skin felt warm and electric.

"As good as I could be." She shrugged, trying to hide the blushing.

"It's over now, it's finally over. They've got the two of them at the ministry still as ladybirds. It's over." Draco said breathlessly. He tucked a piece of hair behind Hermione's ear. "We can be safe now."

Hermione felt a surge of power. "Draco..." she whispered, sitting up and locking lips with the blonde. Sparks flew and Hermione buried her hands deep in his hair. Draco's hands wandered over Hermione's back.

They pulled away after what seemed like a lifetime, Hermione unable to comprehend what had just happened. She released a short breath, feeling her whole body tingle with excitement.

"And I couldn't possibly think you could be incredible at something else." Draco smirked. "Wouldn't surprise me if you read a book about the best way to snog, Granger."

Hermione laughed. "Don't expose me, Malfoy."

Hermione, Harry, Ginny and Draco had all decided to go back to hogwarts. It was the place they felt the most at home, the place where they could be surrounded by love and positivity and try and move on from the events of the past. The first years had had to stay in St. Mungos for a little while longer, but would resume their term at the school whenever they were ready. Hermione didn't want to say goodbye to Draco so soon as well.

"Well, that was something," Ginny collapsed onto her bed in the Gryffindor girl's common room.

"To say the least." Hermione replied.

"So how are things with Draco?" Ginny winked and wiggled her eyebrows. Hermione rolled her eyes with a smirk. It had been a week since they'd kissed in the hospital room, and since that moment they'd done a lot more kissing and..... other things too.

"Great." Hermione answered. "Couldn't be better."

Hermione looked out the window pane in the Gryffindor common room. The sky was a royal blue and she finally felt calm once again. Things were really starting to look up for her.

"So we just... go back to school now?" Ginny yawned. "Hey everyone, we're back after being death eater's underground lair for a few days, what was the potions homework?"

Hermione laughed, "I guess so. But knowing us, I'm sure something else will pop up before the end of the year."

"True." Ginny mused. "Let's go down the the Great Hall and get some food, yeah?"

"Sure." Hermione combed through her hair with her fingers and got up. "I'll go and get Draco, okay?"

Ginny's eyebrows raised. "Alright, Mione, you go and find Draco. Just to come down to the Great Hall right? Like just pick him up and come straight down? Riiiiight? Nothing else."

Hermione felt her cheeks turning pink. "What? What else?" She replied with a smile. She walked to the doorway of the dorm. "I think Harry's in his room." She added before Ginny could reply.

"Yeah, I'll go get him."

"Oh but Ginny, the rule is that girls aren't allowed in the boys-"

"When have you ever seen me following that rule?" Ginny hopped down the stairs and bounded up the other ones into the boy's room.

Hermione laughed, her ribs aching when doing so. She clutched them and groaned, walking down the stairs carefully. She left the common room, ignoring the side glances from the younger students and took her slow way down to the dungeons.

Walking to the Slytherin common room felt wrong, it wasn't the way Hermione was so programmed into walking that it felt unnatural. Going into other house common rooms felt illegal and students were permitted from doing it until after the war, McGonagal wanted there to be more unification between the students so allowed it when with or meeting someone from that house. It still felt strange.

Hermione turned the corner and reached the entrance to the common room, and ducked inside when a few third years opened it using the password.

"Hermione?" Draco was putting a book back on one of the black marble bookshelves when he spotted her. He learnt against it, taking a breath in as his eyes caressed her figure. "What are you doing here?"

"I was just-..." Hermione trailed off as she stared into his soulful eyes. "Never mind." She leant forward and kissed him, her whole body dancing with electricity. Draco pulled her back out of the common room and into an empty classroom without stopping their makeout session, slamming the door behind him as he pushed Hermione against it. Hermione pushed Draco against a table, and her heart was racing.

Although she couldn't believe it, it seemed as though she really was falling for Draco. And she wasn't going to stop anytime soon.

Meanwhile, at the ministry, a box lay on the desk in the Auror office.

"They're in there." Raymond Thirsk, one of the top Aurors gestured it to Kingsley Shacklebolt.

"As ladybirds? Both of them? Well I never. Good work." Shacklebolt picked up the steel small box in his hand. "Let me see, oh if only I was allowed to just squish them both under my finger." He slid open the top. "What is the meaning of this?" He demanded.

Raymond grabbed the box and looked inside and gasped. "Where've they gone?" He shrieked. "Sound the alarm, Minister, sound the alarm!"

Shacklebolt nodded frantically and flicked his wand. Only the minister himself could send out an alarm all over the premises. Alarms began squealing as Raymond and five other Aurors began scrambling around, hunting for the two insects.

The alarm sound was piercing, the room was frantic, and the sickly smell of Lavender Brown's perfume hung in the air.
