Hermione didn't know where she was running, but her legs slammed against the ground and her arms moved to the beat of her quick steps. She felt sweat trickle down her forehead but she didn't care, she didn't care about anything in that moment except for the terror that her future would hold. She pelted down a corridor lined with paintings filled with people watching her in wonder, even the animals painted delicately onto the canvas.

After a while, Hermione's legs burned and her heart was pounding so she stopped and sunk down onto a nearby wooden bench.

"Get a grip, Hermione." She muttered to herself angrily, standing up and walking back down the way she came. "You're only going to make things worse than they already are." She noticed the second year's defence against the dark arts room down the next hallway so she got a sense of direction, and began to head back to the common room. Since she was in the lowest level of Hogwarts, Hermione could distantly hear chatter from within the Slytherin common room.

She walked in a daze past many arching stone doorways and when she past her familiar old D.A.D.A room, a broad hand hooked around her forearm and pulled her inside.

Oh my merlin. This is it. This is Ron. I'm going to die. Paranoia got the better of Hermione, and she was so relieved to see that it wasn't Ron she almost leant forward and kissed Draco.

"Granger." He said, he voice slightly wavy. "I, um- can you tell me about the thing with Weasley? Please, it's urgent." Hermione's lips tightened and she raised her eyebrows in surprise, overwhelmed with what was happening.

"Why would I do that?" She asked, sliding into a sitting position on one of the window sills.

"I uh-" Draco dropped his voice down to a whisper. "-I think he wants to rope me into this. I think he's coming back for me."

Hermione gasped. Draco's situation was identical to her's. Before explaining that, she went into great detail about what had happened and what part Crabbe, Goyle and Lavender played.

"If it weren't for you, Draco... Harry would be dead." Hermione looked up at the handsome blonde, having to quickly avert her eyes after realising she was staring at his abs through his tight shirt. Her cheeks went bright pink and she prayed to God that he hadn't noticed.

"Glad I could be of your assistance." He said.

"And one other thing." Hermione said quickly. "I got a message from, I'm guessing Ronald, saying 'I will be back for you'. It was written in blood." she closed her eyes, remembering the deadly omen. There was silence for a second, then Draco sighed.

"Me too." He said simply, looking down at his shoes. "Painted loud and clear for all of Slytherin to see."

"How did you know it was for you?" Hermione asked.

"I think I'd know, Granger." Draco looked into Hermione's eyes with an expression that was impossible to read.

"Right. Well, tell me if you hear anything else, and stay safe." Hermione stood up and dusted herself off, nodding to Draco.

"You too." Draco replied, he too standing up. "Stay safe."

Hermione walked over to the door and was about to leave when Draco ran up to catch her.

"Wait! Take this." He handed her a small round metal object, with three gold buttons across it's diameter. "Press the middle button if you need me, and mine will heat up in my pocket. Got them from the Sunday market in Diagon Alley if you were wondering." Draco handed Hermione the coin-shaped item.

She looked down at it and couldn't help but crack a smile, remembering how she used a similar bewitched item for Dumbledore's Army in fifth year. Then, she remembered that the memory included Ron and her expression went stormy again.
