There was no point trying to cover up the truth. Hermione explained to the headmistress how she received the message written in blood, as well as Draco, Harry and Ginny.

"Ron seemed to be more brutal with Ginny's message." Draco said, staring down at the redhead in her drug-induced coma. "Perhaps to illustrate that he meant business. I'm not sure. Either way, he's still in Hogwarts."

"Or" Hermione cut in, "he left recently. Could be either."

Mcgonagal fiddled with one of the front buttons of her robes, deep in thought. "Hogwarts isn't safe. Pomfrey?" She turned to the nurse. "I want you to spread the message that all students must return to their common room immediately." Madame Pomfrey nodded and hurried out of the room. Draco and Hermione exchanged a worried glance.

"Ginny! Oh, Ginny!" It was Harry. He stumbled madly into the Hospital Wing and collapsed at his girlfriend's bed side. "You're covered in blood. She's covered in blood! Why is she covered in blood Hermione?"

"We're not sure there was any particular reason other than to scare her. Ron sent her the message too." Hermione said gravely, patting Harry's shoulder.

"Mr Potter." Mcgonagal sighed. "I want you, Miss Granger and Mr Malfoy to go to my office. Since Ron is after you, we need you to be under extreme protection. Miss Weasley shall be there in a few hours, I presume. She's just shaken up, after all."

All three of them nodded, Harry standing up and moving back to stand next to Hermione and Draco. Professor Slughorn burst into the room, moving quickly to Mcgonagal and whispering something in her ear.

"Oh my merlin..." Mcgonagal looked like she'd seen basilisk. She froze on the spot, her mouth agape. "This is terrible. I-I-" for once, the wise woman was lost on what to do. "Oh, Horace. This is beyond our handling. Inform the Minister immediately."

Slughorn nodded and left.

Hermione, Harry and Draco shared some terrified glances, all turning to Mcgonagal.

"Headmistress?" Hermione asked uncertainly.

Mcgonagal inhaled a shaky breath. "It's Ron. It appears he really does mean business. There have been four first year students captured." She looked like she was about to faint. "Henry Richards, Emily Reynolds, Wren Argent and Alex Fitch. Hufflepuff. Slytherin. Gryffindor. Ravenclaw."

"Headmistress... We ca-" Draco started. "We can help you find them, I-it's us that Ron wants, we can-".

Mcgonagal looked up at Draco, shaking her head. "No, Mr Malfoy. I want you to-"

"We can help you find them!" Harry interrupted desperately.

"No." Mcgonagal said, a little more severely. "I want the three of you to go to my office, lock all the windows and doors and stay in there."

"But-"

"Now." There was a firm tone in Mcgonagal's voice that signified that she mean business. Harry, Draco and Hermione sighed and left the room, leaving Ginny and Mcgonagal.

"I don't believe this." Hermione shook her head and walked down the staircase at a fast pace, Harry and Draco tailing behind her. "I don't believe that Ron could- that Ron could involve first years with this. First years!"

"Yeah" was the only reply that the two of them could manage.

They arrived at Mcgonagal's office after a brisk walk in awkward silence, and stood in a line in front of the great brass griffin that was the door.
