COLD TO THE TOUCH || RILAYA

"MATTHEWS!" I yelled as I banged on their door, "MATTHEWS, OPEN UP!"

There was no response for a little while and I can't hold it back anymore. I began to break down in the hallway.

I must be too late, how could I do this to her...

I fell to the ground onto my knees, drenched in tears. Suddenly, the door flung open and Topanga was standing there.

"Maya! I'm so glad you made it!" Topanga said as she helped me up. "Oh honey... dry those tears. Hurry up, Katy!"

I stood the hallway, waiting for my mom to leave. As she runs out the door, Topanga and I follow without a word spoken.

"Get in quickly!" my mother yells to us.

When I jumped into the backseat, she gasps. Topanga looks at her with a worried face, but I predicted this was going to happen.

"I forgot my keys in the house."

"FOR GOD'S SAKE MOM, GOD FRICKING DAMN-"

"Maya!" she yells at me.

I take a breather and shove my head into my hands, trying to keep it together.

As we all jump out of the car, there was a bunch of chaos outside. I look around the corner to see everyone trying to get Riley conscious, even strangers.

"Riley..." I whisper to myself. Then it hit me. "Wait... RILEY!"

I run across the street, dodging as many cars as possible, to get closer to my best friend. As I get closer, I see the sirens and doctors.

"Wait, is that-"

"MAYA!" Farkle cuts Zay off.

Farkle pushed through everyone and ran into my arms, holding me as tight as possible.

"I was so worried you weren't gonna make it here and-"

I cut him off.

"Farkle, I love you to death, but I want to see Riley," I say in the most sincere way possible.

"Oh yeah yeah, of course. She's over there," he said as he pointed over to the crowd.

I ran past him and drilled through the people surrounding her. I hear nurses and doctors ask people to leave. Some listen, others ignore. I make it to the scene where I see her body being checked on. She was so damaged, I didn't know when the bleeding would stop.

"Excuse me, ma'am. I need to ask you to leave," one nurse said.

I backed away, then Cory came around the corner and stood up for me.

"She's with us."

The nurse nodded and continued to cover the wounds. I got onto one knee and held her hand. I began to let the tears pour down my face as I watched her body get worked on.

"Riley... I-"

"EVERYONE STAND BACK!" a doctor yelled.

I quickly stood back up and let go of her hand. The doctor shoved everyone out of the area, including someone the nurses. He attached something to her arm and had other men lift her onto a gurney into the ambulance.

"Sir, what's going on?" Cory asked as Topanga and my mom met up with him.

I couldn't eavesdrop into their conversation since they moved to a secluded area, but I wouldn't of listened. All I could do is stare at Riley's paralyzed body inside of the ambulance, and decided to attempt a prayer.
