Maya's POV

As Lucas walked out of Riley's room, I could tell he was upset, but he patted my back and smiled, letting me know everything's okay. I quickly take a look back to see Farkle and Zay were mouthing good luck to me. I smiled to them and walked in. She looked like she was in her own little world, so I just stood by the curtains.

"Hey Riles."

She looked at me and smiled.

"Hey Peaches."

"So..." I began. I felt the awkward tension rise as the word left my mouth.

"So..." she mimicked.

"How'd it go with Lucas, what'd he say?"

"Oh... nothing much. Small talk, you know," she said, fiddling with her ring.

"Really? Then why was he in here for an hour and a half?" I playfully ask.

"Small talk can turn into big talk..."

We both let out small giggles as I sit next to her on her bed.

"You and Lucas?"

"Brother and sister, how it's always should've been. You and Lucas?"

"You kiddin'? Cowboy with a side o' pancakes, how it's always been," I replied in a southern accent. I tipped an imaginary cowboy hat and clicked my tongue which made her laugh. Her happiness is my kryptonite and when she's happy, I'm happy. I turn around to see everyone peeking through the window and I get up off the bed and close the curtain, giving us some privacy.

"They're crazy, aren't they?" I say, pointing behind me with my thumb.

"You can't say anything, you did the same thing with me and Lucas," Riley said in a joking voice.

"Yeah, I'll give you that."

I sat back onto her bed and she rose up and gently pulled my face close to hers by my chin. I felt the room temperature quickly rise without anyone touching the thermostat. We were nose to nose with our eyes closed, waiting for the right moment.

"Riley," I whisper, "What did Ranger Rick say to you?"

"He opened my eyes to try new things," she whispered back, bringing our faces closer to the point we were speaking into each other's mouths.

Just kiss her now!

"And what's that?"

"This."

Before I knew it, I was locking lips with Riley Matthews, the girl I've been waiting be with for years. She took her hand and ran her fingers through my hair, allowing me to wrap my arms around her. We both pulled away at the same time, look each other in the eyes. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I see her looking at me the same way I've been looking at her.

"So I'm guessing your talk with Lucas went well?" I say, lightly rubbing her scarred cheek.

"Better than I could've ever imagined."

"Hey, Riles?"

"Peaches?"

"Kiss me again?"

"Gladly."

---

"How'd it go?" Farkle asks as I walk out of the room.

"Well, even though I talked to her for less time than Huckleberry, it wasn't too bad," I said, smiling bigger than ever.

"You kissed my daughter, didn't you?" a voice said. I turned to my left to see Mr. Matthews came to visit.

"Hey, Mr. Matthews. How ya doin-"

"Did you?" his wife interrupted. My smile turned into a straight line in fear of Riley's parents.

"No, I did."

I turn around to see Riley standing at the door, unhooked from her IV's. I walk over to her and grab her hand, showing everyone what happened during our talk.

"Yeah, Dad. I kissed her. I kissed her and I'm so happy I did. I hope you are too." As she finishes her sentence, I can feel her grip getting stronger, making me realize how serious she is.

"Trust me honey, all of us have been waiting for this for ages," Mrs. Matthews says as she embraces her daughter. I can hear a sigh of relief come from Riley which makes me feel better. Then, I watch the shadow of a man eat my shadow.

"You smooch smooch with my daughter?" Mr. Matthews says, eyeing both of us.

"Yes, sir."

He takes a deep breath before he leans in for a hug.

"I'm so glad I don't have to chase Lucas out of the house now!" he yells. All seven of us laugh together, making the hug end quickly.

"I'm truly happy for you two," he says, grabbing our shoulders. Riley and I make eye contact, showing off our heart eyes.

"Thank you, Mr. Matthews. That means a lot to me." I say as I turn my attention back to him.

"You should get back to bed, we don't want you standing for too long," I say, walking next to Riley.

"Are you sure you should take her? I'm afraid you'll come back out with a hickey," Zay jokes.

"Ha ha. Very funny. I'll be out in a little bit," I say with a half-wave.

As I tuck Riley into the bed, I feel so many emotions lifted off my chest. I finally have the girl of my dreams and I'm never letting her go.

"Aw that's sweet of you," she says as she takes a sip of water.

"W-What?"

"Thinking out loud again, honey?"

"Oh God..."

"Don't 'oh God' it, I think it's adorable."

This time, I'm the only one blushing uncontrollably.

"Y-You're ad-adorable..."

"You're really new to this dating thing aren't-cha?" she says, empathizing the 'cha'.

"You know it," I say with a chuckle.

"I'll see you tomorrow right?" she asks.

"Of course, Riles. And maybe more than just two kisses tomorrow?" I ask, getting closer to her face.

"You know it."

I kiss her forehead and leave the room, feeling like I'm on Cloud Nine. I stop and take a deep breath and let it all sink in.

Riley Matthews is finally mine.
