The next day was my first Saturday on campus. To say the least, I was extremely excited. Though I had a lot of work to get done, I planned on mostly just relaxing today. I woke up at 9, which seemed like a luxury after a whole week of waking up at 6. The girls and I had decided we were going to hang out at run coffee shop and maybe see if we could join some clubs. Kenzie and Mia sure weren't getting along any better than before, but Carter and I were getting a lot better at monitoring it, which helped make our times together a lot more enjoyable.
"Good Morning!" She said cheerfully. I mumbled something along the lines of you too, but I don't think she knew that. I was still half asleep and my words were disjointed and grumbly. She just laughed.
"Not a morning person, huh?" She asked. I looked at her.
"What do you think?" I mumbled. She laughed again. It was looking up and seeing her all sweaty and gym clothed up that reminded me who I was talking to.
"You sure seem like one, though. I don't think I've ever seen you like this before." Mia grinned, tossing her black braid over her shoulder.
"What can I say? I'm an early bird. Not that you'd know, you always leave before I even get up." She jokingly gave me a sad face.
"Trust me, if you could find a systematic inquiry class that doesn't start at 8 am, I'd take it in a heartbeat." I replied.
"Yikes. My first class idea is at 10." She took a sip of her water.
"Where were you anyway?" I asked, just now noticing exactly how sweaty she was.
"Football." She replied simply.
"Oh, do you play club?" I asked, genuinely wondering. She looked at me sideways, as if she was trying to figure out if I was being serious or not. I knew that a few years back, some girls who were pissed at Duke for having no girls team took it the the president of the school. We now had a girls football team that was surprisingly, very popular and a hard team to make.
"No..." She started slowly, "I'm on the varsity team." My mouth opened in shock.
"Wait, really?" She laughed shortly.
"Yes, really." I crushed her in a hug, which she seemed very surprised to be receiving.
"That's amazing!" She choked out a "Thanks!" before I let her go. She quickly cleared her throat, pretending to gasp for air.
"How did you not know that? I mean, we've known each other for a week and I feel like I've barely seen you!" She said, giving me a little side hug.
"Yeah I know! I've been so busy between classes and soccer and tutoring..." I ended. She looked up at me again.
"Of course, that's it! You're always so busy with your tutor..." She raised an eyebrow. I rolled my eyes.
"Is it not possible for a girl and a boy to have a platonic friendship?" I said in exasperation. Mia laughed.
"Nope! But how's soccer going?" I had been practicing soccer a lot the last few days, since tryouts were coming up in a couple weeks.
"Good. I mean, I'd have to be way better than I am too make the walk ons, but hey, a girl can dream right?" Mia laughed.
"Knowing you, even if it has only been for a little while, you'll make first string by next month." I looked at her skeptically, but she just grinned and turned back to the window.

I had been in class for two weeks now and I was still getting non-stop, unexpected calls from Mike Krzyzewski. Luckily, I hadn't had to go into detail about it with Luke yet. He had yet to actually see the name pop up on the screen, but with every call, I could tell he was getting more and more suspicious.
