ROSS P.O.V.

"God, no, Shayna, please." I beg as tears begin to fill my eyes. Shayna just passed out, and that's not good, and I know that for a fact.

"Ross, we got a hold of paramedics!" Maria yells from behind me. "Is she breathing?"

"Yeah," I answer, without checking, I just assume. And boy, am I wrong to assume that. I put two fingers on her neck, assuming to feel her heart beating, but it's not. I feel nothing. "Oh, God. No! She's not breathing!"

"Start CPR! Paramedics are on their way!" Calvin yells in a panic.

I put my hands in the middle of her chest, pushing down with a steady rhythm. When the time comes, I tilt her head back, press my mouth to hers and blow two breaths. I go back to pushing on her chest, and then to the breaths. I keep at this for what feels like forever.

"Shayna, please, you can't do this." I cry as I'm doing compressions. "Shayna! Please!"

She can't give up like this. She's the one who saved me, twice. She's the one who saved Calvin, at least twice from what he's told me. She's the one who saved Maria. She's such a good person, this shouldn't be happening to her, she doesn't deserve it, especially not after learning about Kelly.

"Come on! Shayna, please! Look at me!" I yell as I slam my fists on the ground like a child throwing a tantrum.

"Keep going!" Calvin yells at me.

I hear the siren of the ambulance in the distance.

"Come on, Shayna, help is here, come on!" I yell as I continue.

"Ross, they're here." Maria says. I look over my shoulder and see the ambulance directly behind me. I didn't even hear it get here, I was too busy concentrating on Shayna. It was an easy transition for me to start calling her Shayna as opposed to Shane. Shayna suits her more.

"How long have you been doing CPR?" a paramedic asks as they take over compressions for me, nearly pushing me out of the way.

"Ten minutes," Calvin says from behind me.

"Sir, you're going to have to come with us, that's a lot of manual work you just did. You'll need to be checked out by someone." the paramedic says as they lift Shayna onto a gurney, taking her into the ambulance. "Go to the other ambulance."

I stand up quickly, wanting to go with Shayna. Big mistake. The world starts to spin, slowly at first but then picks up speed. My vision goes blurry at the spinning.

"Ross!" Maria yells.

Calvin steadies me by holding onto my arm, but that's not enough to steady me. At least I think it's not. I wouldn't know.

The world goes black.

"Ross, come on man." I hear Calvin say.

When I open my eyes, I'm laying in a hospital bed with Calvin and Maria looking at me with a look of pity on their faces.

"Where is she?" I ask as I sit up. "Where is she?" I ask again, yelling this time. "How long has it been?" I ask when I realize that it's dark outside, and it wasn't when the paramedics came to get Shayna. That means it's been at least a few hours, that's enough time to re start her heart and perform surgery. I should be able to see her soon.

"Two hours." Maria says.

"Why are you guys looking at me like that?" I ask when I see the same look of pity on their faces.

"Ross," Maria says softly.

"What aren't you telling me? Where's Shayna?" I ask, again, as I stand up, ripping the chord monitoring my heart rate off of my chest.
