"And when he says that he doesn't mean he wants to kill her, he wants to-" my English teacher says before she's cut off by the bell.

English is my first class of the day, and it's also where I met Ross. Everyone at school knows Ross was shot and there's all kinds of fundraisers going on to help pay for the hospital bills. Everyone also knows I was the one who was with him at the time.

I keep getting stares from people and I don't deserve them. I'm too exhausted to do anything about them, so I just shrug them off. Calvin sent me home late last night, and I'm supposed to go back to the hospital tonight. I want to go back right now and find out whatever Calvin is hiding from me. I also want to see how Ross and Maria are doing, or something less selfish than before.

Everyone is currently rushing out of class, crowding the halls trying to get to their next class, but I'm not going to go to my next class. I can't concentrate today, so what's the point in going? I'm making my way out of the building, looking casual until I stop dead in my tracks.

Kelly is in front of me. He's at the end of the sidewalk, so he's not technically on school property.

He saw me. There's no way I could walk past him like he didn't see me. He holds his hands up, showing me he's not armed. He is wearing all black, and his black beanie covers up the majority of his brown hair except for the little pieces that stick out of the bottom.

"Please, I just want to talk." He says across the way. "It's about your brother!"

He knows that will pique my interest, and it does.

"What about him?" I ask, keeping my distance until I know it's safe.

"How I know him. Why I did what I did."

I stand still.

"I know you have no reason to trust me, but he wanted you to know, Shayna." He says, and only my brother called me that.

"What did he want me to know?" I ask.

"About his second life." He says.

That's what gets me to go towards him. I eventually get closer to him, but still keeping my distance. He has a skinny face with a defined nose that kind of catches me off guard. If he wasn't such an evil person, he might be attractive.

"What are you talking about?" I ask.

"Can we go somewhere that's not here?" He asks. "I know you don't trust me, and I can't give you a reason to, but we can't do this here."

Anyone I can think of would tell me not to do this. Calvin would say no. Maria would say no. Ross would say no.

So I say yes.

"Fine,"

"Just be casual." Kelly says as we walk off together.

"Start talking." I command.

"I've been friends with your br-" he says, but I cut him off.

"Friends? Friends? Friends don't kill each other!" I yell.

"I know, I know, just let me explain."

I give him a blank look.

"I have been friends with your brother for three years. We met at the store, I was having a rough day and he helped me out. We got along because he understood me." He says.

"What could he possibly understand about you?" I ask.

"We bonded over our girly names."
