"She's finally down." I announced, carefully closing Ben's bedroom door behind me, leaving it partially cracked. "There is nothing cuter than a sleeping baby." I gushed, putting my hands over my heart.
"Yeah. It's when they're awake you gotta watch your back." Tucker responded in a flat voice. "They suck you in with their cuteness and then once they got you: bam! Fluids are flyin' everywhere!" Tucker said, flailing his arms around.
Ben suddenly bursted through the door with a sense of urgency. "I need someone to watch Emma tonight!" He called.
"Ben, tonight's your turn!" Tucker reminded him, moving over a pile of baby clothes on the couch to sit down. "Remember? The plan?"
"Yeah, I know, and I'm sorry. But Crabcake Chloe just invited me over to... get to know each other a little better, if ya know what I mean." Ben said suggestively and triumphantly.
"Well, you're on your own tonight." Danny informed Ben., heading towards the opened apartment door.
"Tough break, dad. I hope she likes kids." Tucker teased, playfully slapping Ben on the shoulder as he followed after Danny.
"Okay, so you obviously don't what what I mean."
"Oh, no, we know exactly what you mean. We just don't care." I responded.
"Yeah, did you forget the part where I had to throw out my pants?" Tucker said in an annoyed tone, glaring at Ben.
"Please, you guys? I'll be quick!" Ben promised. "Well... not that quick." He added suggestively.
"I'd love to, but unfortunately, I have a date, as well, but unlike yours, mine has already been rescheduled five times for reasons like 'I accidentally set my kitchen on fire,' and 'I think I accidentally got Tucker kidnapped.' Oh, and of course, who could forget the memorable 'Help! I knocked up some psycho chick and she left the baby on my doorstep!'" I accused, giving Ben the same annoyed glare Tucker had sent towards him.
"Fine. You're off the hook." Ben dismissed. "But you two!" He pointed at Tucker and Danny. "Not so fast. Come on, guys, I've been working on Chloe for, like, five weeks!"
"And by 'working on,' he means he's been creepily watching her from across the bar for the past five weeks. He also got me to talk to her three times."
Ben looked at me as though I had betrayed him by telling them the embarrassing information. "You can go now." He said.
"Oh, no. I wanna see how this plays out." I said, referring to the argument about who was going to watch Emma.
"Look, Ben. You can probably tell from the extra hair product and the fact that Hulk Hogan here showered, that we have plans." Tucker pointed out.
"Sorry, bro. I'm new around here and have some serious mingling to do, if you know what I mean." Danny suggested and I rolled my eyes, wrinkling my nose. Tucker, Danny, and I began heading towards the stairs, but Ben's voice stopped us.
"I can't believe you're making me do this." He called. "I'm invoking the Bro Code!" Tucker and Danny's eyes widened.
"Yeah, I'm definitely staying for this." I decided.
"June 21st, 2010, who covered for you when Vanessa caught you flirting with that unnaturally enhanced waitress, huh?"
I gave an overdramatic gasp. "Tucker! You're better than that!"
"Senior year, who told Jessica Feltshank that you were sick in bed when, in fact, you were having carnal knowledge of her sister in our tree house? Answer to both? I did."
