Cassie quickly got ready since the time was ticking down until Katie was set to walk down the aisle, if there was even going to be a wedding still. Cassie was so unimaginably angry at Ben. Both of them were so worn out from the marathon, always chasing after each other, and each time, being too late.
Cassie had refused to wear the bright pink gown she was supposed to and opted for a dress she had stolen from Riley's closet. The dress was still the exact hot pink Riley's was, but the dress was fitted and fell halfway down her thighs. She clasped an accent necklace around her neck and strapped on a pair of heels. Ones her hair and makeup were presentable enough to be forever preserved in wedding pictures, Cassie made a stop across the hall, praying Ben wouldn't be there since she didn't think she could take seeing him right now.
Luckily, only Danny, Tucker, Emma, Gene, and Bonnie occupied the apartment. Tucker and Danny had pieced together the wedding cake. Though it was once extremely beautiful, it now looked like a kindergarten art project. The first two tiers looked like they were made completely out of cardboard and styrofoam, hurriedly covered in store bought frosting. The crunched up flowers were replaced, but nearly as elegantly.
"Really? That's the best you could do?" Cassie tested, beginning to panic when she saw the mess of a cake.
"Hey, we didn't have a lot to work with!" Tucker countered, shooting Danny a glare.
"I'm sorry! I was hungry!" He responded. Both Tucker and Danny were already in their tuxes, as was Gene, who was lounging on the couch, his bow tie untied.
"God, Cas! Since when are you the uptight one? I thought that was your sister's thing." Gene mocked, taking a gulp from the bottle of beer in his hand. Cassie felt her blood begin to boil.
"Gene, I have had it with you!" She nearly yelled at him, pivoting around to face the asshole. "Don't you dare talk about my sister like that, and don't you ever call me 'Cas' again!" He raised his hands in mock, and very insincere innocence.
"Damn girl." Tucker mumbled.
"Come on. We have a wedding to get to." Cassie mumbled, hurrying towards the door.
"Good thinking, Cassie. Let's get going while my hair is still up and my dress shields are still dry. Where's Ben?" Bonnie questioned as she gathered up a lipstick, mascara, and her cell phone and stuffed them all into the little glittery clutch purse in her hand.
"He's trying to get the wedding back on." Cassie admitted, tired of all the lying. Actually, she was just tired of everything.
"Wait, back on? Why would the wedding be off?" Danny asked, immediately panicking, thinking it had something to do with the cake and that he was gonna end up getting nailed for it.
"Oh, just because of a little something called Ben slept with the bride." Gene let happily sip, casually taking a drink of beer.
"What?!" Bonnie, Danny, and Tucker chorused in unison as they looked at Gene in shock.
"Ben slept with the bride?" Tucker repeated. "Man, that is so wrong! I totally hit on her first!"
"Ben would never do that! Come on, back me up, Cassie!" Danny encouraged. Cassie was so angry at Ben that she saw no reason to lie for him and defend him. He made his bed now he had to lay in it.
"Yeah. He did. Because he's an idiot." She ranted. She opened her mouth to continue, but then an idea dawned on her and she slowly turned around to face Gene accusingly. "Wait... how did you know?"
"Oh," Gene smirked smugly. "I have my ways."
"Funny. So do I." Cassie said intimidatingly. "Tucker?"
