Autumn // Jughead Jones

Chapter 10

"Why don't we go in now," I laugh at the smiling boy in front of me.

"Yeah, Archie and Veronica are suppose to preform tonight," He grabs my hand and leads me inside the Homecoming dance.

I look around to see Archie, Veronica and Alice Cooper secretly talking in a corner. I can feel something wrong with this situation.

"Would you be ok here alone for a second?" I smile at Jughead.

"Yeah I think I'll be fine."

I make my way over to the three people I spotted earlier. They all look at me with  a weird  look in their eyes.

"What are you guys talking about?" I tilt my head.

"We have to go, we have to get ready," Archie pulls Veronica up on the stage.

I make my way back over to Juggie, slightly scared of what Veronica and Archie might have done. I look over to Betty with the same look in her eyes that I have. I grab Jugs hand and get closer to him leaning my head on his shoulder. I look up and meet the redheads eyes.

Archie and Veronica end there song and Archie grabs my hand and brings me to the hallway leaving everybody. "Archie what's going on?"

"I need to do this," He grabs me and puts his lips on mine. My eyes widen and I try to push back, but I was too late.

"What the hell!" I turn and see Jughead.

"No no," I feel myself start to tear up. I see Veronica and Betty come around the corner.

"Did you already tell him about Alice and I searching F.P.'s trailer," Veronica's eyes widen.

"What?" Jughead, Betty and I yell.

"Why did you searching my dad's trailer?" He says with so much hurt and anger. He steps back so he's look at all of us.

"Jug, we had to make sure your dad wasn't apart of Jason's murder."

"When did you know to go search his trailer?"

"When you were at dinner," Veronica speaks.

He looks at us with so much hurt, so much sadness. "You were in on this?" He looks at me.

"No, Jug I had no Idea," I step closer to him grabbing his hand, but he pulls back.

"You still kissed Archie, which adds you to the people I now can't trust in this group," I step back and break down.

"I'm leaving," He states but before he could leave Kevin, Alice, Fred, Mary and Hermionie come rushing our way.

"My dad was just talking to the mayor," Kevin starts out.

"Jughead," Fred pauses. "It's your dad, He was arrested for the murder of Jason Blossom," My jaw drops. He's already been through enough tonight. He runs past us all and out of the school and everyone stops. 

"Are we just going to stand here?" I say bitterly.

"He needs to be alone," Archie starts.

"Yeah, Cause his friends go behind his back, His best friend crosses him," I glare at Archie. " And his dad has been sent to jail." I start to unstrap my heals. " I'm going after him because I know that kid has been through hell, and he isn't going to go through it alone this time." I grab my shoe and throw them on the stairs towards Veronica. "Take the damn heels," I turn around and start running towards F.P.'s trailer. 

I see the tape ripped down and the stuff thrown around. I know the cops went through here, but I can tell Juggie was here too. I take a seat on the couch, trying not to tear up. I reminisce on the good times Juggie and I had before his mom and sister moved. After that memory, I get and Idea. I get up and run as fast as I can towards the nearest bus station.

"Jughead!" I yell at the boy walking out of the station. I run towards the broken boy.

"No Autumn, leave me alone," He starts walking.

"No, You don't get to run away. Juggie you can't"

"Why the hell can't I? My best friends hide things from me, My dads in jail and you... you and Archie," He looks up with so much pain.

"He kissed me Jughead. I would never do that to you, especially after all we have been through," I start to cry.

"Don't lie to me I saw you."

"I tried to push him away please Jughead. You mean so much to me please."

"You know what Autumn, You meant so much to me to but you hurt me."

"I didn't do it Jug, I wouldn't. I l care about you way to much to do that," My breath hitches. I sit down leaning on a phone booth crying.

He waited a few minutes before responding, "I believe you," as he takes my hand. "Let's go to Pop's"

We take a seat in a booth, with him leaning his head against the window. I lean my head on him and close my eyes. The quietness doesn't last long when Archie, Betty and Veronica come running in.

"Autumn?" Archie asks. I avert my eyes not to the Redhead but the boy beside me. His eyes turn dark.

"Jug, were so sorry," Betty apologizes. "About everything."

"Juggie, We screwed up, we all did." Archie states. "Breaking into your dads trailer was wrong, but at least some good came out of it."

"Pretty sure my dad was just arrested for murder," He leans his head back.

"The gun wasn't there when we searched the trailer." Veronica speaks. "Someone put it there after we left."

Jughead's eyes fill with hope, making my heart beat just a little faster. He still avoids Archie's eyes. "What are you talking about?" He gets up and starts to walk out the door with the group explaining. We all keep walking towards the station. We enter the station and Archie, Veronica and Jug talk to the sheriff. telling him F.P.'s innocent.

"Then why did he just confess," captures my attention. Jughead walks out of the station and sits on the steps.

"He's innocent, we will prove it," I hug him. He gives a slight smile. Betty and Veronica start walking home, leaving Archie, Jughead and I.

"Listen Jug, I'm sorry about kissing Autumn," My eyes widen. Jughead stands up.

"I told you that I liked her. You knew I like her, yet you were selfish enough to kiss her." 

"I know, I was selfish and it was wrong, it won't happen again," He looks at me.

"How am I suppose to trust you Archie? How am I going to know that your aren't going to try to kiss her again?" My heart flutters but Archie looks hurt.

"I won't ok, I won't do that to you," Archie says with sadness laced in his voice.

"fine, Just dont do it again," Juggie grabs my hand and starts to walk away from the pained redhead.
