Autumn // Jughead Jones

Chapter 8

I throw on a white crop top along with a black skirt. I apply my makeup and straighten my hair before grabbing my combat boots and a cardigan. I grab my books and go outdoors to Archie waiting for me. The crisp fall air starts to get to me, leaving me in chills. Archie starts talking about songs and singing, and I zone out.

"Autumn, hello?"

"Sorry I'm tired," I wasn't completely lying. I'm still having nightmares about Jughead. Archie nods. 

"so Homecoming is tonight," Archie smiles.

"Don't remind me," I throw my head back.

"Would you want to go together?" I lift my head and look at the ginger beside me. "As friend."

I think about it for a second and reply, "Sure, getting out may be good for me."

"Good I wasn't prepared to get turned down," He laughs.

 "Oh and Autumn, I convinced my dad to hold dinner at our house tonight before Homecoming, Jug and his dad are gonna be there. Can you come?"

"Won't that be weird?" I look at him confused.

"Nah, it should be fine."

" ok then," I shrug and continue walking to school.

I walk through the halls from class to class. I walk into Biology seeing everyone. Betty and Jughead are sitting away from each other. I look around for an empty seat and see only one beside Jugs. I sigh and take the seat.

"Hey," I try to talk to my best friend.

"Hey Autumn," He gives me a small smile.

"Have you been ok?" I look at the dark eyes.

"I've been better honestly," He sighs. "But my dads cleaned up himself and stopped drinking," He hides a faint smile. 

"I'm glad Jug, and If you need to talk I'm here," I give him a smile.

"Well there is one thing. I'm missing someone, and I don't know how to fix things with her," My mind jumps to Betty.

"Just talk to her, it will go a long way," I avert my eyes to the board.

I was eating lunch when Veronica tapped my shoulder and sat down beside me. " Hey Autumn."

"Hey Ronnie what's up"

"Well I have a theory about who killed Jason Blossom," She lowers the happy tone in her voice.

"Listen Ronnie I don't want to get into this stuff," I look around.

"It involves Jughead." I give all my focus to the raven haired girl. "I think my father payed F.P. to kill Jason Blossom," She looks down.

"Ronnie that's a big theory to be jumping to. Jughead's dad isn't like that."

"I know but my father has a motive and It wouldn't be the first time He has payed F.P. to do something for him." She pauses. "Could you maybe ask Jughead if he-," I stop her.

"No V, I'm not getting in this. Jughead and I are... shaky right now, and I don't think F.P. would ever do that." I grab my tray and walk away hoping the next periods would fly by so I can go home, away from people.
